Half Life 2 long loading times.

Hi, I've owned my copy of HL2 since release and thought i'd play it once again BUT loading times are so long that there much longer than the area's that it loads lol.

I've tried all kinds of CCC options even tried with out CCC installed with older driver down to version 8.12.

So anyone have any idea what it is as some things making it real slow on loading for some reason. All mobo driver sound card v card drivers and such have been reinstalled with no change at all.. I've even tried verifying the raid setup defraging and such from steam.

5-10 minutes? Seriosuly?

Is that first load up or in between levels?

Have you tried reinstalling the game?

Wow, 5-10 minutes?

I know when I first load it up, it can take up to 3 minutes to get to the menu screen, then a few minutes to get in game, but once there it takes maybe 10-20 seconds between areas.

I've just started HL2 again, great game. Getting back to pc gaming after a while and thought its the best place to start.
Them loading times are incredible, mines about 15-20 secs.
Before when i've loaded the game, steam had told me that the files are fragmented and might cause long loading times and does its own little defrag if you tell it. Not sure if you can do it without the warning though.

Already tried it as i said above. And yeah i know about loading times being fast just that there so often in that game.

Reinstalling Steam as well this time see if thats a issue. I did notice M&M taking a massive 26GB so deleted that too lol. I'm not really that bothered just that my wife wanted to play though it again. But it's just getting annoying now lol.

Even 20secs seems to take forever, makes you sometimes think its crashed.
When i recently reinstalled it, upon lauching for the 1st time it told me the files were fragmented.
Hope you get it sorted.
