Need advice on upgrades!

Hi guys,

I'm looking to upgrade my rig, specs are in the thing to the left.

I don't want to upgrade anything that will give me little to no increase in performance, but any advice would be nice =)

Thanks,
-Valen

Just upgrade your video cards and you will be fine. How much are you looking to spend? You could also get an after market CPU cooler and oc that Q6600.

I'm thinking around £400-500.

Any recommendations for video cards?

I have been thinking about getting liquid cooling, but I don't have any experience with it.

And also, I want to get a new case, possibly do some case modding.

Dont get Liquid Cooling its not worth in

u can get alot more out of ur q6600 with an aftermark cooler

i recommend the Thermalright Ultra 120, Xigmatek HDT-S1283 or Prolimatech Megahalems with a fan around 90CFM

Well for that money i'd get a nice new case with the space for WC and get yourself a CPU WC setup (not a kit, get all the parts seperate as it's a far better outcome doing that).

Then i'd not do anything with those cards, the cpu oc will set yourself up to be able to handle some new cards (either 4870x2 (a 4870x2 and a good case will set you back almost all your budget, but i think starting to get into WC early will allow you to expand/upgrade your wc in future for a lot less money so would be more value), 4890, gtx 260 and beyond series or wait until the 5xxx come out) without any bottleneck issues.

If you've never WC'd before don't worry - there are more than enough people here on the forums willing and able to talk you through getting a really good setup working (imo it's a lot easier than you'd think if you've got a spacious enough case)

It's factory OC'd, no other difference and so not really worth it, unless you get really unlucky with a stock 4890 which won't oc.

**edit** a very good wc cpu setup would be around £200 (just quickly priced one up).

Any estimates on how much a WC "set" for my CPU will cost?

Why do you need WC? Its a complete waste of money IMO.

I took my Q6600 to 4 GHz @ 1.63v LLC this morning on a Xigma HDT-S1283

All I would upgrade on your system is the graphics card(s) and a cooler for the CPU to OC it.

As for recommendations, I still firmly believe the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 is best.

Or any of its "cousins" like the S1284 etc.

The true is too heavy and expensive for my liking

Why are you looking in UK stores if you are from Denmark?

Any other stores that ship to Denmark that you know of alexp999?

Hardware in Denmark is SO bloody expensive.

Play3r, I meant they don't have the Xigmatek

Example: I made a setup from www.overclockers.co.uk for £500 for my girlfriend, and then looked up the prices in Demark. I would have to pay £690 for it.
