Lowering HTT for better Phenom II overclock?

Will lowering the HTT of the Phenom II reduce the need for processor voltage? ie, will you be able to run the same clock speed at a lower voltage than you could before if you go for a lower HTT of the processor and a higher multiplier? Or does it work that way or make much difference?

I'm pretty much talking about underclocking the HTT...

HTT reference clock frequency cant be underclocked. But I think you mean HT Link speed. It may help... In the early ES Phenom II's they had to drop HT Link to 1GHz in order to prevent the coldbug and therefore clock higher.

I would say dropping HT Link speed will not reduce the need for processor voltage. But this Is based on what i've read, seen and experienced with Phenom 1. So I can't say I've tried it.

I'm talking about the speed that goes 180MHz or 200MHz reference on the Phenom II... are you saying that it can't be underclocked?

With fast google, I found just a few links of older Athlons that stated HTT being 180MHz... And now that I checked that ONE link, there was a guy that asked about OC'ing Athlon 64 3200+ socket 939. He mentioned that there was an option in bios to change it to 180MHz, but he had a multi locked CPU, so... I would say there is just absolutely no point to even think about lowering your HTT. And at least on my mobo 200 is minimum.

And AFAIK, all AMD chips nowadays are based on the 200MHz HTT reference frequency...
