ASIMO the inteligent robot this thing's fascinating

i just saw a thing on tv about an inteligent robot called asimo, on the program they gave it a chair it had never seen one of these before it looked at it for five minuets obviously checking it out, then it was told to nod when its done, it nodded then they gave it an office stool, it was on wheels round not square and had no back so it looked completally different but asimo recognised it as a chair, yet it had never seen them before, me myself the fact a computer can make a personal judgement on what an object is amazes me, and another bit, the presenter show'd it a mini cooper (good old brits#0 it had never seen the shape of a mini but the first time it saw it it recognized it as a toy car so it made another judgement that this new item looks like something it saw before so IT DECIDED ITSELF that it was probably the same thing,
dnt no if this is new news or not but it fascinates me haha thought id share this snipit of info

edit: i mean if a computer can have its own opinions can it become creative? the future for this is mindboggeling, an the program just said todays computers can make huge orcestral compositions not just randome notes but proper pieces of music

Asimo... isn't that Mitsubishis robot?

Man thats so awesome... Terminator is not far away if it continues like this. That lil guy must have run gazillions of 0s and 1s to calculate the algorithm for the conclusion: That is also a chair. Beep.

John Conner's a pussy since Terminator 3. We better call Gordon Freeman, he can handle anything.

On topic again: He might fell down the stairs. But damn its a robot that can walk up stairs by not placing both feet on one step. This is amazing. I bet he could moonwalk, that would be awesome!

Awesome, yet somehow frightening to see where this is going.

actually it can but just slowly think how how many proccesses it will have to think just to raise up one leg and keep the whole thing balanced? nevermind moving forward and putting it down again, we dont have fast enough proccessors etc to do it but the fact it can balance itself to sit down stand up and can answer questions the way it thinks is amazing

depends who gets hold of the finished thing in a few years and what they want to do with it?

Its a machine, so you can shut it down. The question is how But as long as they're japanese robots, they're anyway made of plastic, so Gordons crowbar is sufficent.

I have already assisted in the making o two self learning beings. And I got put down the other day by one. It asked "whats this" pointing at a elephant, and when I responded "A elephant" it looked at me like I was stupid and said "No, it a tusk!" It was pointing at the elephants tusk, then it proceded to point out it's tail, trunk, feet, ears, head and other animals.

3 years of development and it can read a little, identify numbers, letters, animals, colors, and run everywhere.

that vid of it falling is old, so is the bot, but some of the stuff they have it doing is quite amazing.

that one in germany that can extrapolate what somthing is by comparing it to other things it knows is very cool, i mean it even asked him if the mini cooper was a toy car when he was teaching it that it was a mini.

it is the genesis of skynet tho people, just wait till asimo learns how to control those predator ucav's, air force pilots will all be on welfare
