I'm not sure what you're getting at with 128 bit CPU's, they won't exist for many years to come and have nothing to do with Larrabee.

As for those "rumors", I highly doubt anyone actually thinks that or has claimed that. It certainly won't happen. Beating competition by a factor 5 is simply stupid from a marketing point of view. Besides, I highly doubt it will kick any ass initially. I just hope it gets near them and the second or third generation becomes a serious competitor.
You'd be right, but this venture is far different than anything any other company has ever actually based stock in. Their idea of a GPU is nothing like what we currently know, so it makes just as much sense for them to create a crazy-ass product to rival GTX 495. If they do, I wonder how much it will cost, since from a marketing stand-point, it will either not be applicable to the mainstream market, even at the highest segments, or it will be inferior to its competition, which, as it seems, would mean Intel has less-than-skilled people on their staff, considering the manufacturing costs that Larrabee demands and they so willingly endure. These rumors makes it difficult to become excited about the product from purely a marketing standpoint, but if I wasn't so used to being let down by new GPU types (such as the R600) I would give it a chance. We'll just have to wait and see. Truthfully, the only thing that ever comes out of a venture of this sort is the positivity of competition. You will still get X amount of frames for X amount of dollars, but with competition, the difference between them diminishes.

and NO. I believe the Intel is doing this to save us. They know that Nvidia and ATI are ripping us off. thats why they want to do that. I am all for the permenant solution of the video card. I dont want to upgrade. I think Larrabee is the way to go. We dont have to worry about upgrading.

Intel should make ATI and Nvidia to go out of business and invent a one-time only solution product and embed it onto the motherboard as a graphics processor powerful enough to run and play new games. thats what i want. I dont care about the evolving technology.

I dont want a technology if its at the expense of the user.
Dude just sit back and realize what you're describing here.... a console system. Go buy a PS3 or xbox360 if that's how you feel. Additionally in regard to contiually upgrading your video card, the exact same can be said about upgrading your CPU.

I wish death to the two empires "Nvidia" and "ATI". They should be stopped. and Intel will stop them eventually from producing anymore expensive video cards.

The Larrabee will be sold at $100 or even lower and will be a fast chip. come on. show me a chip from ATI or Nvidia with the same price and perform fast.

Larrabee for life.

If you honestly think Intel will release this at 100$, then you don't know anything about business, no offense.

I see others have touched on this already, but I just want to make this clear - if you want a console/computer you won't have to upgrade, you'd have to spend the money you'd eventually use to upgrade it initially. Which is to say, you can buy a graphics card right now for 500$ and one that is twice as fast at a later point for an extra 500$ or, conversely, you can but two of the first card for the same price of 1000$ and get about the same performance, except you'd enjoy it for longer than the people awaiting the best single-slot-solution.

Is he claiming it will cost 100$?

Nothing in 2009 with a bus width of 1024-bit costs 100$.

because nvidia and ati need to make money

and theirs a big difference in manufacturing costs between a vga and ram''

I think it will be fast but larabee will cost proabably 300- 400 is my guess

and remember, intel has already said that it takes 24 cores to run gears of war with aa at 60 fps and I would say based on that 32 won't max crysis

You really think Intel will make a new gfx solution as cheap as $100 ? funny they can't manage to do the same for their cpu's...

if anything Intel are more money grabbing than either nVidia or ATI , they see a potential HUGE money making idea tbh ,and will no doubt be as dirty as they can to ensure they get as much $$$ as possible.

Doing it to save us from AMD/nVidia... don't make me laugh.

yeah, 100 dollars, not a chance in hell, larrabe has a 512 bit bidirectional bus meaning it will have more than likely 16 GDDR pieces which alone I think busts the rumor of 100 dollars

but in a good light if intel can get the clock speed up to about 2Ghz + then based on what intel said about gow which was at 1ghz(and I think they lied) larrabee will be a very fast gpu

problem is intel lies . . . . alot

Intel savior from monopoly that is funny. That 100$ maybe just the GPU + PCB + MEM. It is all about money. Even if it is 100$ and it is beating x5 ATI and NV Intel is going to correct that price by x5 I would guess.

I wouldn't be surprised it is DarkMatter out for vengeance because he was banned, anything ATI/AMD related he would troll them. DarkMatter would belittle members and argue with the mods, very unruly person.
