Keep in mind other aspects of your computer can contribute to overclocking. Case cooling, adequate/clean power supply, Quality Motherboard, Clean driver installs.

I ordered the Toxic in the end, purely because I found an even better deal that the Atomic (£180), if it dont give me over 1000mhz then it's a rivatuner voltage tweak for me!

Got the Toxic today, 1050mhz out of the box, OCCT GPU stable (have not tried a 2006 or vantage run yet though), going to try the Rivatuner voltage mod tomorrow if I get time.

Recieved my Toxic Yesterday. Running 1050/1200 65% fan. Idle temp 40C. Passes vantage graphics test 2. Will not pass both 1 and 2. Ran Hawx (max settings, DX10.1) for one hour with no issues. Warm in my computer room/office could be a factor. (78 degrees F)
I am sure if we had a solid solution to bump up the core to say 1.415-1.435 we could hit at least 1075 core. A reference 4890 core voltage is 1.312 I believe. I am sure the Toxic is 1.4 Excellent card!! |

Edit: Although it's showing 1.3V in BIOS, in Rivatuner and GPU-Z it is showing 1.4V..... strange. http://vr-zone.com/articles/increasi....html?doc=6880 Quote:

That Rivatuner voltage tweak is easy! You can even turn off OVP/OVC which is a good thing because whenever I went for high 3D Clocks I got BSOD at 1.425V which I worked out is what I need for 1100mhz which I am happy with, eventually I realised that you can set OVP/OVC upper limits to "0" which is un-active, then she worked fine, dont want to go any higher, simply because although this VapourX cooler is very nice, i dont wanna push those VRM temps too high and risk the card frying, I think high 80's low 90's for VRM's at 1.425V on OCCT GPU stress for 5 minutes are OK temps, here is a screenie of 1100mhz goodness after a few minutes of OCCT GPU stress test without artifacts, forgive the quality, I had to downsize considerably....... not tried Vantage/2006 though which will be the big test.
I am on cat 9.5's, CCC goes a bit strange when the cards overvolted and was flickering whilst i was doing the stress tests, the readings went all over the place also, GPU-Z also reports different temps on the VRM's to Rivatuner also. Would be interested to know if anyone else tries this on a different Cat if they get the same issues.

Edit: I see the link for instructions above.
Tatty, I would like to give this a shot. I am an electronic test engineer by trade but havent tried this using riva tuner. Could you give me step by step instructions on how to implement this safely? By the way, I have the 4890 Toxic. Thank you... Edit: has anyone tried flashing atomic bios to a Toxic? Last edited by Cool Mike; Jun 15, 2009 at 01:44 PM. |

![]() As for the guide, the link is in my post 343, just follow that, it's what I did. Edit: The one thing the guide does not mention is OVP and OCP, with mine, if I set the voltage above 1.425V then it would crash as the OVP sets in and reduces the card to 2D clocks which of course wont power the overclock, if you look in setup (you will know what I mean when you get to changing the voltage) you will see an entry for OCP and OVP, you need to change the upper limit from 1 to 0 on each which will disable it, then your good to go. On top of that, once it is set, whether rivatuner is open or not you will ALWAYS get the higher voltage when in 3D mode but it is easy to reverse it and then just go into rivatuner and raise it again whenever you want to, once you become familiar with it.

One other thing I should have mentioned on the rivatuner voltage tweak, you probably dont need me to tell you this but please dont go too mad with the voltages, even with the VapourX coolers you may want to keep it under 1.45V even for just benching as those VRM's still get warm, I reset mine to stock unless I am benching as the card at 1050mhz handles anything in any case and just tweak it when I bench which once you get the hang of it takes about 30 seconds only.
