GPU Tool FAQ

GUI / Interface

Q: What is the (1:0:0) behind my card in the drop down?
A: The location on the bus, every device gets a unique location.

Rendering

Q: Why is there no movement in the render test?
A: In order to detect artifacts, GPUTool compares two subsequent images. If there was movement the images wouldn't match. Movement will not create a higher load anyway. Tools like OCCT and Furmark do not actively scan for errors so there can be movement.

General

Q: Feature X doesn't work.
A: That was expected for such an early release. Make a bug report in the forum, maybe it gets fixed.

Q: Will you integrated GPU-Z in GPUTool or GPUTool in GPU-Z.
A: No, that's not planned.

Q: When can I expect a next/beta/final release?
A: When it's done.

Q: Which cards will be supported?
A: Unknown at this time. I am aiming for something like newer than GeForce 6, HD 3xxx. Intel/S3/Matrox unknown and low priority.

Q: Why was my post deleted from this thread?
A: I'm deleting posts that were answered and that don't have any additional information to keep this thread clean.

It has an option, I will admit it doesnt move during error checking, but it might be nice to have an option of whether it error checks or not

@ W1zz, how original. Some of us like seeing what are GPU's are capable of rendering in real time.

I like the old fashioned way of finding max clocks. Last time I used auto it completely screwed up my PC. Nice to see an app that has such a feature tho.

Until you either A) Get artifacts, or B) are happy with the clocks. Once it finds artifacts it will automatically back down the clocks till it finds the highest stable clock.

Sounds like you used the dreaded Ntune.

The nice thing about this software is that the find max function doesn't force the computer to run at that found setting after a reboot. This means that if the computer locks up because the video card was pushed too hard, it won't reboot the computer back at those clocks which were way too high. Ntune had a problem with finding the max clock because it would load that instable overclock at every reboot and got you caught in an annoying endless cycle until you rebooted in safe mode and fixed it.

by the way, if i figured out the max clock with GPUtool its seems to be stable on any game i did started...

but occt find errors in his scan...

anyway the artifacts starts over am temp from 70°C at my GTX 275 from XFX... and the auf flow increase up to 100% at occt... at GPUtool 70%. but both tools the reference cooler is able to hold the temps at 92°C max

i think at my geforce its a temp and a load issue on occt testing. but it isn`t important if i know no game is able to stress the gpu nearly like GPUtool, furmark or occt anyway...

sorry for my bad school english... i hope everybody was able to understood what i tried to explain here

PS: thanks for that great work for this tool anyway
