Yate Loons vs CMs
I felt like doing more research on extra case fans I was going to purchase since the guy on Craigs hasn't replied to me in nearly 2 days about the Antec 300. Anyway, I've heard a lot of good things about Yate Loon fans, but what actually makes them so special? I plan on running these extra fans as a bonus in air flow whenever the comp is on, and I intended to buy the COOLER MASTER R4-S2S-124K-GP fans, since they're around $4 a pop shipped. But, after looking around, I found that the almighty Yate Loon fans are around the same price on Jab-Tech and Fan Wholesale.
I don't intend on getting a fan controller as they're quite expensive, so if I were to get the D12SL-12C fans, that move around the same amount of air and make the same amount of noise, would the Yate Loons still be the better choice? They both have sleeve bearings, and are the same dimensions. Cooler Master Air Flow | 44.73 CFM Noise Level | 19.1 dBA Yate Loon Air Flow | 44.5 CFM Noise Level | 20.8 dBA Obviously, spec wise, the Cooler Masters are better in every way and are $7 cheaper for 4 shipped. I understand that if I were to get fans with a higher air flow, then yes the Yate Loons would be obviously better, but I don't intend on moving so much air. |

yate loons are far quieter in reality, and they work better on fan controllers (they scale well with voltage, cant say the same for CM's)

by the way you can get a Sunbeam Rheobus for $12.95 at Jab-Tech where you are buying the Yate Loons. I hardly call that expensive. Aqua Aquero and Multiswitch now that is a expensive fan controller over a $100. |

I'm not entirely happy with my Yates, but I bought the cheapest ones
Still do better than the CM fans I got, noise-wise.

Actually, it just hit me that TriCools have a 3 speed switch, so I'll only need a controller for 3 fans. I recall seeing one on Newegg. Thanks guys.

NOOOO don't... they're terrible. At first they seem good, but they're not noise wise. They don't push nearly as much air at medium to justify the noise they create.

I heard they were good?
Meh, I'll stick to my Scythes. Apart from Zalman, best fans I've used.

The tricools... for the money, they're horrible. They cost like $15 a fan of the egg... thats just rediculous because they get outperformaed by stock fans that came with my case.
I have 3 of them laying around if OP wants them... I also have the noctuas that are supposed to be so good, but they're loud too... So far the yate loons (when vertical) and the aerocool xtreme turbines under fan control are the best fans ive run across... and that includes tri-cools, scythe slipstreams, Noctuas, silenX, Sunbeams(not bad), and a plethora of OEM case fans. |

If you're talking about the TriCools being bad, I don't intend on buying any. It's just that I'm looking to buy an Antec 300 off Craigslist for a nice price and they come with 3 stock, which is why I'm seeking 3 more fans to fill up the rest of the available fan slots on the case, which is ALSO why I said I only needed a controller for 3 fans since the stock TriCools already have a 3 speed switch.
