New Core i7 Processors Show May 31st ETA on Retail Site
http://www.pcsforeveryone.com/Product/Intel/BX80601975
PCs For Everyone (an online retailer) has the new Core i7 chips listed and available for pre-order. I've never heard of the site, but the possibility of them being available at the end of the month is nevertheless exciting.

Thing is, the 920 generally clocks so well that it's really hard to justify spending 3 times as much for the unlocked multi.

The people that can afford the EE CPU's from intel just amaze me lol, my system is worth 1/4th the cost of that thing. Though they don't seem to require as much voltage to overclock, i still like the idea of being able to pump 1.5v without voiding my warranty on my q6600
. Recon it'd die rather quick at that voltage though

Who knows. And I agree about just buying a 920. The only people that should be buying anything higher is people who don't know how to overclock and for some reason need more than a stock 920 offers. I really don't understand it myself.

if you need more than what a 920 offers on stock, you still shouldn't get 945/950/965/975 at all... you should get a PII if it is for quad-core usage, or a fast dual core for games... I am disappointed in Intel for not changing the price for the i7 950... make it 350~400$..... people would actually buy them then...

I think because Intel believes there is no real competition for the i7 line, and nothing else in Intel's line even comes close at the moment (which I think is why they're delaying i5) so they can charge crazy amounts for these chips.
I think the 920 is the ONLY i7 CPU that I would consider at this price point. The relative performance of the next steps up don't do justice to the price hike they have.

I hope I won't regret buying an i7 system in mid-June...
with a 215$ mobo and 275$ chip and 80$ RAM...

Those chips are for people with cash coming out of there ears or for benching, As everyone has said the 920's are fine for the 1366 platform, i even like the co's for my regular systems, as long as i can get close to 4G then it's a fine chip.... the rest is just gravy...
but that being said, you got to love what those chips are doing, 5G on air, that's gonna lay down some krazy numbers.... |

im a lazy man.
id rather play with multi and tweek QPI a tad bit, and not stress about ram. vs. save the extra money, end up spending hours and hours of overclocking, only to find out later on your either limited on the QPI bus (board reasons) or your ram cant keep up. ![]() 975: ![]() 965: ![]() QX9650: ![]() Sold my friend the X6800 i had. didnt you know EE processors gave you an automatic power level over 9000.

You could OC way more than that o.O especially on those i7s... You could get better than than with most of the 920s o.O
So basically you bought them for an e-penis larger than what your pants can handle?

Most people stuck at 222 BCLK for the Core i7 920, which mean 222x21 = ~4.6GHz, reaching over 4.6GHz is alot easier with unlocked cpu, and that will cost you, alot.

what good if you don't even get near there? just a waste of money -_-
If they just make the QPI to possibly go lower than x36

i can go higher, i just chose not to. HT ON, me just ramping voltage and playing with multi only. :P ![]() My systems are on 24/7 and i WCG from time to time, so i dont want to be at full tip toe peak and risk hardware dying under constant load. |

I think part of this whole scene is to rock out as much as you can, and do it in syyle,
no matter if its getto moding or extreme processors or super tight ram, it's about being different. Not just about have a stable system or drivign between the lines, i think most of us are about getting as crazy as our pockets can handle and because we are all different, we do it different ways. Hey if i could afford 3 EE's then i would get them why not. If i can get hte best tires for my car, i do, if i can put a turbo in it, i just might. but you can only drive 55, so some people ask why? if you got to ask, then prob you should hang at TPO, tech power off.... When i explain to my friends what i like to do, i tell them it's like drag racing computers, you shoot for the fastest, the best the most wicked i can do, and most of them get it.... because everyone does it somewhere in there life, we just do it with GHZ Rock on!

If I could afford 3 EE processors, I still wouldn't buy them... actually, I probably could afford 3 EE processors thinking about it now, but I find that just a waste of money... Highest performance I can justify the price on for me is an i7 920 system... I'd fiurst buy a house that will last me long and a car that what last me long, then I'll save some money and invest the rest, and when I'm going to be uber rich before I die I'll give it to the poor
Actually, I already give 1/4 of my salary to the poor ![]() I personally find that if we can buy 3 EE processors and have whatever car/house we want, you shouldn't buy the best, but just good... most of the rest is a waste of money... if you don't know what to do with your money, they are people who are starving to death...
