If you hold it so highly than hold a little faith in the developers that they can pull off a good MMO.

This almost looks as good as the graphics that were promised on the PS3.

i hear u JC, KotOR is my favorite PC RPG and probly fav game period with starcraft right behind it. So i was hoping for a KotOR3, not SWTOR, but it'll be the first MMO that i'll put time into just cause i expect bioware to pull this off, their storylines are always great so i have no dout they'll do a hell of a job on this. It's a shame Obsidian had to do KotOR2, or else that game woulda be a lot better as well. I expect this to be much better gameplay than WoW, which is basically a lot of repetition with some slighty variation between quests.

There won't be those types of quests in this game, imagine it as KOTOR but on a far bigger scale. You will get xp from just completing a task, such as finding someone. I know that sounds like some quests in other MMO's, but in this you will play your storyline like KOTOR, and you will get xp as you progress through that story, and the story could change if you decided to be evil or good.

Kind of hard to explain, but I hope you get what I'm trying to say even though it comes off as sounding the same

BTW I will be running polls on the SW:TOR forums, I put up my first one and will be doing them as often as I can to gather larger amounts of data and to sort out the muck of peoples responses so Bioware can see exactly the demographic they are looking at and what everyone wants, so please, bump the thread and cast your votes!

And just wondering if your going to try it out, as you might find out you like it. You might want to check out some previews as it seems they have found a way to make this feel very muck like KOTOR, here is the best preview I can find around, it goes into a lot of detail.

I have no doubt that it will be a good MMO, but I am sick to death of dev's turning every good RPG into an MMO. Seems like the only one that has converted yet is Bethesda. I highly dislike MMO's for several reasons.

1. The monthly fees. I would rather not game again rather than pay for a game, then pay monthly to play it.

2. They seem to require guilds, friends and factions. I hate having to join up with people that I don't know just to have fun in a game.

3. They never really seem to have an end. Usually they slack off on the story BIG TIME and flood you with thousands of options for creating your ideal character.

4. There are no decent RPG's that are single player. I can count on one hand how many decent RPG's have been out in the last 5 years. Kotor, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Titan Quest and NWN.

Sorry to say it, but The company that had Duke Nukem rights had rights to a Fallout MMO and when they tanked the rights fell into Bethseda's hands, and Bethseda made an MMO department in 2007, my bet is you will be seeing one.

I understand your arguements though, especially with current MMO's. Story is going to start getting better as technology does, it's hard to feel immersed when you have to read a wall of text, most are pretty lowo n character creation options, just lots of gear options. If you played the first 20 or so levels of AoC you would know what I mean, they did an amazing job there and your own character wasn't voiced, which in this they will be, and the whole game will be, I think it's going to be very enjoyable to hear the story.

The monthy fee though isn't too bad, if you really enjoy the game you won't buy a ton else. I buy maybe 5 games a year, I use to buy 10 or more, so it balances out, I just find myself buying exceptional titles rather then picking up mediocre titles to fill my time.

thats exactly what i say.
everything about that video is just amazing.
the HD quality. the attention to every detail. the sounds, force effects and amazing fighting choreography and obviously, the Dark side looks just BADASS.... and i love it !!! (always been a dark sider, and always stay one)

if they made this cinematic trailer into a movie, id buy that movie on 1080dpi or more, and keep it with me forever.... seriously

but yea, i hope they make the game like this cinematic. i mean the force powers, perfect fighting moves, the HD quality and the amount of detail added to all the worlds.

*fingers crossed so hard that blood cant reach my fingers*

if all these are done properly, this game would literally cut thru (with a saber) the WoW franchise.

Nothing is going to cut down WoW, and when they don't that doesn't mean they failed. WoW has a low requirement and people don't want to leave what they have built for a fresh MMO that could have issues.

It's going to be a great game I hope, and hopefully get a good customer base, WoW only has about 3 million subs in the US, if this hits 1 - 2 million thats a rather large chunk, the majority of WoW pop is china at 6 million subs it is over half!

That's true those are some great points about what turns me off of MMOs as well. I guess I'm holding out that Bioware will find a way to quell these problems, they've definitely already said they're gonna try to get #3 down, I have a feeling #1 is inevitable, and if they can create a universe where one can have fun alone as well as in a group then it's a winner.
