OEM copy of what? Vista or XP? If so, sure you can. The whole bummer with this "preorder sale" is the fact that it is only the upgrade version, and one can not preorder Windows 7 Ultimate

Does this mean upgrade as in the old sense where you have to stick in your windows 2000 disc for and XP upgrade or does it have to use the upgrade feature instead of a clean install?

what you can do is install from the disk without a key '30 day trial' and then upgrade that - when the system reboots, you get an option for a fresh install.

So from the one disk, you can upgrade from 7 without a key, to upgrade 7 with a key. takes twice as long, but works around needing a previous OS installed. (and i can install 7 in 15 minutes, seriously. its fast)

Oh well that's weird, but I guess its better than buying the full edition or pirating it. Do you recommend Home premium or Professional. I was kinda leaning towards HP as I can just use VMware instead of microsoft's virtual machine.

I'm going for Home Premium myself. I wasn't gonna buy it until an SP or two came out, but 50$, why the hell not

From my experience Home premium vista actually works better than Ultimate for some weird reason.

less services running by default, most likely.

I cant buy it from the egg anyway, and i think the MS deal is for USA residents only.

edit: yep. USA, canada, china, UK.

Im sure you could get someone to buy it for you. I would even do it then mail you it.

Also you can save a couple dollars using cashback and paypal as well.

Its kinda of a joke that you can only install it on one PC. I remember when you had unlimited installs with Windows 98 and stuff
