Microsoft Pulls IE8 Advertisement

Since IE8 falls under the category of general software, I figured this is the right place to post this little news tidbit.

Microsoft created a tongue-in-cheek advertisement that has caused some people a bit of angst. After being criticized for it's rather tasteless approach, Microsoft pulled the ad.

I think this may be one of Microsofts best ever. It is a bit over the top but I couldn't help laughing out loud. Not for those with weak stomachs.

OMGIGP ad

I think it is actually a brilliant marketting ploy. They make a controversial ad, then when people complain they pull it and it ends up on YouTube getting hundreds of thousands of hits. Microsoft is off the hook and they're getting tons of free advertisement.

This is the first time that I saw it also, and it caught me off guard as it is so far removed from anything I would expect Microsoft to make. lol

I hate news like this, a company has to pull and ad because of some whiney stuck up soccer moms that didn't like it. Well if you don't like it:

BAM problem solved...

Thats the great thing about TV, no one is forcing you to watch it. If you don't like something, change the channel. It is much easier than spending a bunch of time complaining to various agencies and the company, that is valuable time you should probably be using to find a job instead...

"Use IE8 'In private Browsing'"

they make it seem like they're the only one who has it.. Guess they don't know about FF "Private Browsing"?

Meh, didn't like the ad only because it was horribly done. OMGIGP? Oh you're cool now man!

Could well have been very clever marketing strategy. They release it knowing full well it will get pulled which means it gets lots of attention.
