Yeah no place is going to guarantee you don't get ripped off. Paypal and ebay and such have measures to attempt from this happening, but they aren't simply always going to give your money back if someone rips you off. As mussels said if you don't trust him (which it would seem you don't), then don't buy from him. If you're doing this online paypal is always good.

No, but you said in your original quote "buy". You also didn't specify where you live.

I like the new ebay/paypal setup were you pay and the money goes into the sellers paypal, but they cant remove it/use it for 21 days or until you put the feedback on the sellers ebay.

Tigger I agree it is a good saftey net for the buyer but he seller takes it a bit in the backside on that.

Seller forgets to leave feedback ...you have to wait.

Want to ship a huge item like a case....hope you have extra monies, because paypal holds the shipping funds as part of said total. I had to ship a Cosmos S, almost $50 out of pocket, in hopes I'd see my money in 3 weeks.

he could set it as a buy it now, and you just need to get it. Then ebay and paypal will back you in your purchase.

get his phone number and do it together, that way as soon as it lists, you can nab it up. Or get on an IM and have him link it to you as soon as he sets it. Just need to get some sort of help on his end. IF he wants to sell it I'm sure it wont be too big of an issue, just be sure to compensate him for all the fees incurred from his listing it for you

The seller sets it up with a 'Buy it now price' and can also set it for buyers to make an offer on the item.
Then you make an offer and he accepts it.

Although this may offer some reassurance that you receive the product, it in no way means that you will have any sort of warranty if anything goes wrong with it in future.

Ebay provides 3 weeks for you to find fault with the item. If you do find an issue, usually the buyer gets his money back. Not too sure on the specifics, never had to make, or had a claim against me.

If you do not receive the goods then you can raise a dispute with eBay and they investigate it for you.

EDIT: Sneeky said it better
