¿What mouse pad is best for gaming?

it has to have good traction if that's the right word. mine is 10 years old and is a bit wear down.
I will have a mouse later cause mine is a piece of crap. I think the pad will be a good start.
I'm tired of getting my butt kicked on UrT and CoD.

I forgot to mention it has to be wider and heighter then a standard sized one, just cause of the sensitivity.

It depends on your mouse. Some mouse do track better on particular mousepad. Just google with keyword <your mouse> problem with <your mousepad> to make sure nothing weird exist.

If you simply just want something decent and cheap, a cloth mousepad like Steelseries QcK or Razer Goliathus is usually enough. They're sold in various size including towel size
If you want something that easier to clean, a plastic pad like Steelseries 4/9HD, Razer Destructor 2, Logitech G440/640, or Corsair MM400 would be better.

Mind you, no mousepad last forever. Cloth pad is easily get stinky and the edges may be fraying. Plastic pad surface may smoothen in time but easier to clean than cloth (the same goes for modern metal mousepads).

I have 2 Artisan Mouse Pads both different for different play styles. At this point I've had the Razer Destructor, Func Industries Surface 1030, and a Steelseries Heavy. I have come to the conclusion that, like mice, are all preference. FPS players use soft pads for better control, but have seen others use hard pads. also size is up for debate too. Nowadays its like what rooivalk said, it depends on your mouse sensor. My Zowie FK tracks better on a red mousepad.....weird right?

I like glass mats personally, some don't as they can make a slight sound on fast movements. But had mine many years now with 0 issue's with a bunch of mice laser and none laser.

Down fall if any is that they hate crumbs haha, how ever i have had mine for years now with 0 wear and takes 2 seconds to clean were as with the typical pads i would have to wash it and would be replaced many more times.

There's a bunch of mats but personally i love hard mats, mouse moves so smooth in them . I have a Steelseries QcK mat.

And about size there's definitely big ones xD.

Edit: Hard mats are very easy to clean. Forgot to mention that

1. Steelseries 4D I just liked it, because its only 2 mm high, very easy to clean. The mouse slides quick over it. It went bad because I burnt a hole in it with a cig while being drunk.

2. I wanted to tryout a cloth model, so I bourght a Steelseries Qck heavy. It took some time to get used to, since the friction is much higher than on a hard surface 1. harder to clean, thicker and has a tendency to fray quick.

3. Present pad is a Steelseries 9HD i think it is, so im back with the hard ones, they just work for me without any foults.

Have tried many. Steel series qck has been perfect. Mouse runs smoothly because of cloth surface. Only con is that the pad itself moves on table after gaming

Depends on the mouse. The best mouse pad is one with the least friction I suppose, assuming you have a steady and controlled hand (a skill I lack).

I personally use a custom made satin blasted tempered glass mouse surface. It's actually cheaper than most overpriced mouse mats by the likes of razer, and yet vastly superior. You need a mouse capable of operation on glass though.
