That's right! 100GB free cloud storage for life! The company is called Zoolz. The catch is that Zoolz uses Amazon's 'Glacier' which is a "Cold Storage" service, and they are only offering it free for the first 1 million users that sign up here.

You're probably wondering what is "Cold Storage"? It just means your files are not accessible instantly. You will have to wait up to 3 to 5 hours for an email confirming that your files are ready for download. Now you can purchase a subscription for instant file access if you want for a small price. :toast:

EDIT: I already use Google Drive's 100gb storage and this looks to be a great way to backup a backup? hehehe

Not bad, though it looks like if you want more than 100GB, it's cheaper to just bypass them and use Amazon Glacier directly. Can get myself 1TB for $10/month, the cost of 500GB at Zoolz.

Yea, but why would you not get both? I mean they are going to give you 100gb free why would you not take it for a spare backup? 10 dollars a month is not better than free dollars a month... hehehe You're right though amazon is offering the best price for anything above 100gb atm. :toast:

Smallest possible footprint outside of my home network I guess. May or may not be rational, just makes me feel better :)

I will say about Zoolz that they are doing a lot of heavy work for users and worth what they are charging. I don't mind it doing the work myself, and in fact, look forward to coding up a system that works with the Glacier API. Seems overkill for the home, but I can gain experience working with it and bring this experience to where I work (huge amounts of archival data).

Hope people use encryption before they upload their lives to so-called free services or any online services for that matter, sure as shit I wouldn't want anyone going through all my private documents, pictures, videos etc zip them up with 256/512bit encryption and then upload the zip files.

I don't get the whole, "I'm not letting anyone see my pictures!".. Err Growing up my grandmother, mom, aunt's, friends mom's and grandmother's wouldn't hesitate to break out photo albums to show everybody.... hehehe Nobody wanted to look at them then and I don't see anyone breaking there neck to now... Only way I would try to hide family photos from people would be because I made money showing people my photo's like a model... I mean really come on think about it before you spend x amount of time encrypting something nobody wants to see... hehehe Unless of course you are a freak, and take nude pictures and stuff, and if you do then you should already be encrypting that stuff on your pc..

Oh and that so-called free service is only for the first 1 million users, and it's Amazon's service, they are just sub-contracting there service...
