My last PSU was a GS800 and it is a very solid PSU. Incredibly good voltage regulation. The only thing I didn't like is that it wasn't modular. I've never pushed it much past 450-watts worth of load off the wall though.

Generally speaking, I would expect a Corsair PSU to be decent. Personally, I would want 1000w if I were in the op's position, but that's just me.

PSU's do not degrade that quick with normal use. If he plans on folding or something 25/7 for years it would be a good idea to get more powerful ones though.

Folding isn't as bad because once it's warm, it stays warm. You run into issues when the temperature changes a lot and often.
    Frick says thanks.

How are you measuring this, because it sounds like you are measuring the draw from the wall. If so, are you including your two HD 6870s? Are you adjusting for PSU efficiency?

I am measuring it from the wall using my UPS. That idle is my machine except the displays.

My 4-year old Cooler Master GX II 750w PS powers my 2 eVGA GTX 760 at 1300 (BOOST Clock)/6800 in SLI and a heavily overclocked i5 2500K at 4.5Ghz.
