Well That would be nice, for 4 4870X2 on a mobo. But I think that Nvidia will be making there GTX280 X2 by the end of next year. But I hope that the ASUS Trinity come out, with the possibility of crossfire multiple cards.

Benchmark Scores It does boot up? I think.
I can't understand how people are excited about "advancements" that cause multiplying power consumption and cost that provide unrelieable gains far from any acceptable ratios. That's Crossfire & SLi I'm talking about. I hope these silly multi-GPU-techs will not gain more and more weight in the future.
Multi-GPU has always been, and is at present, a niche - if not a failure. Let's all hope it stay that way.

it just maddens me when i see....

"how do you enable sideport?"

you put in a 3rd/4th card!!!!!!!!

someone borrow me an x2 with a waterblock on it and i'll be MORE THAN happy to prove my point/knowledge.

Somebody already tried running 4 X2's in Xfire. It isn't supported by the drivers.

is it? of course, however there's much more money and hype in crossfire and sli
that's what's holding back multi core gpus IMO
we'd probably already have multi core gpus right now if SLI and crossfire hadn't been designed

Yeah, I guess we'll have to get mad at 3dfx and their damn Voodoo 2s for inventing SLI.

Too bad it's too late....

lol, yeah. But I do see where he's coming from. Throwing more engines into the car isn't really the answer, it just adds more overhead and diminishing returns. On the other hand, for those who just NEED top of the line or an e-penis extension theres no other way to get that kind of raw power RIGHT NOW, no matter when right now is; now, six months down the road, 12 years... The current tech only goes so far and until they come out with a faster engine, putting more of them in is the only way to gain horsepower.

I still won't be Xfire-ing my HTPC

If you could get 4 4870x2's and have them all scale perfectly, you wouldn't need to upgrade your video cards for a few years! XD

4x4870x2? lol, so the scaling normally is 2%. Going by that algorithm, with all 4 of them, you might be able to get 4% higher FPS, 5% if overclocked!!! lol.

DISCLAIMER: there were no facts stated in the beforesaid paragraph, no links will be presented to back it up, being that it is not entirely true, therefore no flaming is allowed about how im completely wrong and just dissing ATI, I love ATI, I just have a 9800GX2 because i found a great deal.

lol that is so true

Getting four Hd 4870X2s on a Spider platform is basically a suicide attempt. I bet you need two 1200W PSUs at least to get the rig to run normally. Maxiumum PC would've accepted building an AMD Dream Machine if it weren't for the Phenoms skimping on performance. Now THAT would be a Dream Machine!

Makes you kinda wonder with how long SLI/Crossfire has been around, why they DON'T scale anywhere even close to what they should do.

It's not just ATi cards...
