Every few weeks I see articles or people talking about how the world will end in 2012 in one way or another... planet, asteroid, super volcano, the solar wind thread, so I was wondering. Do you believe that the world will end in 2012?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, just do a little bit of research and inform yourself. This is a simple poll that I'm making just to see where people do really stand on the subject. Surprise me ;)

People only believe that because the Mayan clock ends at the year 2012, but that means nothing.

But if the world does for some reason end in 2012 i would be sad because i graduate HS in 2009 so the world would end mid college.:(

It won't end, even if an asteroid did hit, it'll only create partial damage. The universe will end in a big crunch 5.6b years later. Then the universe will start attracting to each other( moving close to each other: all stars, planets etc) and cause a heat death when every thing explodes. Then hopefully a new big bang will start a new life again.

I think something big might just happen, don't know what though. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I thought it was gonna all end on May/Or March 2001 when all the planets aligned, apperantly nothing happened, but the planets aligning.

So much for a Natural cataclysm.......Hurricanes, tornadoe's, earhquakes, volcanoes were supposed to be triggered at this point...But??

    ...three things:
    1) Even if every human being died, time will march on.
    2) Lots of people believed the world as we know it would end in 2000 and again in 2007. Keep one thing in mind: Not a single one has been right yet.
    3) The only major event scheduled for 2012 that I am aware of is the next solar maximum. Pretty much the worse that means is some satellites might get knocked offline and a few power outages here on the ground.

Doubt it but I'm gonna be sooo messed up anyways I wont care..

Anyways, the whole idea of 2012 isn't just that year, some ancient civilizations have ending dates throughout the year. So I'll just be royally messed up each one of those nights.

Maybe you should look into the idea that ALL ancient civilizations calendars end in some time 2012.
You can call it BS all you want, but when people 2000 years ago could predict the moons exact location 500 years before it was there and had a more accurate calendar then we use today, I tend to wonder what they may have known.

Who knows, maybe they just got bored and its just a thing, maybe it does mean something, but I would feel like an idiot to just outright say its nothing.

Will something happen... I don't think so.

If something does happen... we can't do S**t about it. It's gonna happen. The whole astreroid thing is crap... we would see it coming (Armageddon anyone?)

People are getting freaked out about the whole Nostradamus thing and how he said something about 2001... blah blah blah. He was a crazy drunk (which is truth).

You're talking about people that didn't even understand gravity. They knew less than we know today. I fail to see how a failed empire would know about something 2000 years in the future when they couldn't even predict their own demise.

Seriously, this is like Y2K bug 2.0. Just like computer clocks were only designed to count out to 2000, the Myan calculator was only calculated out to 2012. Just like with computers lasting longer than anticipated, what's to say they weren't going to recalibrate their calendar in the year 2000 to make it last until 4000? It is turning nothing into something.

Nostradamus has yet to predict an event in modern times before it happened. Think about that...

The same goes for "The Bible Code." It's easy to twist generalized phrases to mean something today but only after the event has happened. It makes no sense why people take any of that rubbish seriously.
