I'm looking to buy the i7-4790k so it would have to be 1150 it would have to use the Z97 chipset. I have always used Asus MOBOs without a problem so I'm leaning there but the other option would be MSI gaming 7 or ASRock. Not sure if the "RUF or TUF" option is better but I plan to use the comp for New release games and once the price drops I will add on another GPU for now just going with (and again still not sure was going with 770 then I read the R9 280X or the 290 are better) really would be grateful for some good feedback.

Stick with what you know. If you have used Asus mobo's in the past, you'll be familiar with the bios. That aside, I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the brands. Just look for the features you want/need and try to get what you need for the best price.

Do you plan on overclocking in a future upgrade? If not, you could consider a H97 motherboard instead, which is designed for those who are not overclocking, and would also save you some bucks. In terms of brands, people have their favourites but it's almost a level playing field, and most manufacturers provide similar great products.

Well, both asus and msi are good, you cant go wrong with it
but base on your budget, and what you want to do with this pc

for like, you are talk about i7 4790 cpu, but not i7 4790k, so you may not work with overclocking
if not, and with limit budget, you can try h97 pc mate from msi, may be a good budget saving

also if you are plan for gaming, how about asus z97-a or msi z97 gaming 5
this should be good enough for your need
but if you dont have budget limit, go up to gaming 7 then lol

Well the i7 4790 has very limited overclocking, but if you will do overclocking at a later stage, get the Z97. If not, you'll be fine with a H97.

I assume you are looking to buy the 4790k. If you are going with a Z97 board I would stay away from the lower price options. Boards like the Z97-A are about the lowest you want to go. Pretty much anything above that price is almost certainly a high quality board and as mentioned earlier you can't really go wrong with any of the brands. Just look for a board that has the features you want.
