I plan to buy a "Sapphire Radeon HD 7990" for a CFX with 2 others R9 280X Toxic; I want to know if the 7990 can go up to the frequency of Toxic?

GPU = 1180Mhz
Vram = 1600Mhz (DDR 6400Mhz)

Other than that from what I know about crossfire you can crossfire 2 cards as long as they have the same amount of ram and clock speeds but I might be wrong.

Your PSU won't handle an 83xx processor and 4 GPU's. It is an unwise choice. Also, your 83xx won't handle 4 GPU's properly anyway, it will bottleneck. 4 way XFire is pointless, I'll tell you now, the scaling is going to be awful.

what is the purpose for this :confused:

you are wrong.
first 280x=7970. you can cf any 7970 or 7950 with any 280 or 280x and even with 7990 and 7870LT
2nd for cfx you need only same gpus. hawaii with hawaii, tahiti with tahiti etc. that is why you can cf 280 with 7970/280x and 7950 with 280x/7970 or any combination of 6 models above
3rd matching ram size and mhz is recomended but not mandatory. if you have 2 cards with different size of vram your cf will be limited to use only smaller size of ram. if cards have different clocks both of your cards will work at their max clocks and you will have worse scaling then in case of 2 matching cards
4th sli≠cfx

They will work together. The HD7990 shoud be the 3rd and 4th GPU since it won't clock as high and therefore it is better to have it take less of the load. You can run different coreclocks and memclocks in crossfire so you can still run the Toxics at 1180/1600 but the HD7990 will probably peak at 1100/1600.

YOU ALSO NEED A STRONGER PSU

Here's another kicker for you, your MoBo only has 2 x16 slots and 2 x4 slots electrically wired. It simply is not designed to support more than 2 GPU's without getting gimped by limited electrical PCI-E lanes.

okay yes is write but ! i want replace my actual 280X vapor-x by HD7990 .... So you think that because of the dual-gpu a 7990 is not compatible with a CFX my 990FXA-UD3?
I had a doubt ... but I respect the standards in my mobo; there would be only 2 pcie card ... I thought I could do ... cheating with a dual-gpu card ^^

You can only run 2 GPU cards on that mobo, whether that's two 7990's, or a 280x + 280X or a 280X + 7990. Pick two, and that's all the motherboard is capable of running in terms of PCI-E electrical lane allowance on the available slots. I advise against any more than standard crossfire, as scaling is incredibly flaky with more than 2 single GPU die's. While your motherboard and PSU is capable of running a 7990 + 280X, I still don't think your CPU is strong enough not to cause a bottleneck, and I think scalability is still flakey with 3 GPU die's trying to balance the load, not to mention a lot of games simply won't run on more than 2 individual GPU cores.

Don't waste your time and money on 4 way crossfire, especially not with that CPU. That's the last piece of advice I can give you.

Don't troll with me ;) Lol I LiKE AMD not Intel because Intel is Not Intelligent ;) but AMD yes ;)

I'm not trolling, the 8320 is not powerful enough to keep up with 4 GPU cores at once. Try doing some research before you disregard my information because you think I'm brand preferential. I'm as neutral as it gets when it comes to brands, I take only factual information.

I would also advice against using three or four card crossfire. Heck, if you've got that much money to spend, use it on one or two new AMD cards, which will also crossfire way more efficiently than 7970s and 280X will ever be able to.

My advice: buy one or two R9 290(x) cards, or if you really want to go all-out, a radeon R9 295X2, which you can then potentially crossfire with another R9 29x(x(x)) card in the future. You'll still be all AMD, but you'll both have better performance now, in the future, and better crossfire scaling when needed. Furthermore that way you can sell your current cards, which should still bring in a decent amount of money.

We here at techpowerup are (apart from the obvious fanboy threads) almost never biased, and what all of us are saying here really is the best advice we could give you, objectively and taking in account your preference for AMD. I advice you to take it seriously:)

Yes you can, you can CFX a 7990 with a 7970, 280x, 7950, or 280.

However, you cannot do a 7990 with 2 other 7970's or the likes, only one more can be mixed with a 7990.

As others stated you will also need a better PSU. If your going to go high GPU count, go up to 3 because as ive personally seen in results the 4th GPU tends to be a waste except in very few situations. The 8320 at 5ghz will not bottleneck a 3-4GPU setup, maybe at stock it will but not at 5ghz.

Like others have said, if I were you I would just get the next generation or wait until the new cards are released instead of just upgrading right now. You can get 2- 3 R9 290's and you will be much happier with those than a 7990 especially if you want to overclock (Unless you get a Devil 13 7990 or the Asus Ares).

Combinations were known but it is the chipset limitations of motherboards which lay at my lack of knowledge.

It seems obvious to me and that's why I do not talk of changing supply power.

1000W 80+Gold with 2gpu's overclocked + 1 cpu overclocked.
1500W 80+Platinum with 3gpu's overclocked + 1 cpu overclocked.

To be quiet ;)

I ignores the event to take gpu's newest because last year I bought 2xSapphire HD7850OC 2Gb for ~ € 425. Earlier this year I told myself, I'll take R9 290x and the increase in VAT rates have increased so I pulled over 280X Toxic 540 € (2xgpus); Well I would just have a config that churns out without having to take the last gpu dated to pause financially from this side there ;)

Doing a break for a year or two before thinking about changing generation GPUs.
The bottom in which Blaisse R280X and 7900 are the same number as the ROP 7800 unlike the R9290X. I consciens what are the R9280X and that is why I want to stay in this range for the moment ;)

Just that 96 ROP and 384 TMU (3gpus) is better than 64 ROP and 256 TMU (2gpus) ^^ I play on 3 screens with 3gpus then it would make me one per screen.
