I'm asking this because I was going to buy a GTX 660 or a GTX 750 ti, and I read that Nvidia is going to release GTX 860/70 in october (not sure about this) and I wanted to know if it worth it to wait till the release ( probably will do that) in any case would the GTX 850 ti be better then the GTX 660?

I am not really sure, but typically its about a month after the release of the flagship cards (880/870s) till we start hearing but the mid range GPUs.

750 Ti took ages to release. The first consumer 700 series was 780 which released in May 2013, and the 750 Ti only came out this February. May be well into 2015 before we see an 850 Ti.

No, the likelihood of that is very low sadly. It takes normally a pretty long time before Nvidia releases their mid tier GPU's and the low one normally follow that. At this point were not even sure how long its going to be before the 880 comes out (Predictions I believe say its October for that card).

Agreed !

And Nvidia will release the Ti version only if the 880 will sellout and succesfull card...

Normally if not they do not release any Ti version.

Good lord MxPhenom you know that the GTX 880 isn't the Maxwell flagship! Not even close. It is a mid range GPU and even worse it's on the old throwback 28nm process. There's a possibility that it will outperform the Kepler flagship GTX 780 Ti but that doesn't make it a Maxwell flagship anymore that the GTX 680 was a Kepler flagship GPU.

I get that, but its flagship for the 800 series. I am not retarded.

Unless Nvidia releases a GM210 a few months after the GTX 880. I doubt it will be gimped like the GTX 780. Maybe they will call it the GTX 880 Ti. Since it would be on the 28nm process that would leave them room to drop a 980 GTX 20nm beast later on down the road.

The GTX 750 Ti IS the GTX 850 Ti. nVidia just named it as a Kepler card because they wanted to test a 28nm Maxwell mid-range to see how it would sell. Well, it's selling very well so we'll see more Maxwell hopefully by October. The GTX 880 Ti will come out later than the rest and there may be a GTX 860 Ti (OEM at least.).

I am not sure we will ever see an 880Ti, unless their 20nm Maxwell GM200/210 will be the 880Ti, but I expect them to save it for the GTX980 like the GTX780 is to the GTX680. So we could more likely than an 880Ti, see a GTX980Ti if they hold the GTX980 back slightly, then release the full-fledged maxwell part like the 780Ti is to the 780.

There has been somewhat of a confirmation that GTX880/870 will be out September, or atleast unveiled by Nvidia at a big conference.

You may get a better deal on any remaining overstock of 760s/770s [miles better than the 750ti] when the 870s/880s launch.

Agreed with others. You'll not see a release of an 850Ti until the release of the top two 800 series cards, and then some months later. I almost called the 880 the flagship, but like @64K pointed out and we discussed in another thread, the REAL flagship will be 980 as far as maxwell goes.

It's very likely that any 850ti will merely be a tweaked 750ti, since that maxwell card is out early and has been placed in the current kepler lineup.

Definitely not this year. Maybe middle of next year, quite unlikely though

Might the presences of the 870/880 put downward pressure on the prices of say 750 and its AMD competition, if so, by how much approximately?
