EVGA motherboards any good?

So I plan to switch to X99 soon and so far my favorite board for price and features is the EVGA X99 FTW however I've read a lot of very negative feedback about EVGA motherboards so I'm wondering if I should buy it now or just wait to buy a different brand like Gigabyte or Asus.

no problem with my Z77 FTW, although it doesnt have a full UEFI BIOS >_< the only gripe i had was that the original BIOS was VERY flaky, luckily when i bought my board they already had several BIOS updates that improved and stabilized o/c performance

I'd say they are at times lacking in features, both physical (connectivity) and software (BIOS). But the build quality and warranty are the usual EVGA goodness.

Looking at the current X99 options I'd personally go with the Asus ones. They are also good quality wise, but have much better BIOS/software to go with it, for example the fan control software.

i dont find my board lacking in connectivity. 6 usb 2.0 and 6 usb 3.0 and 8 sata ports are more then enough, let alone the 5 pci e slots. I admit i got my board for $93 instead of the $350 MSRP and im a bit biased, but the board itself has more then enough features

Look at the X99 Classified vs the X99-Deluxe... The EVGA has no SATA-E, the ASus has 2. The EVGA has one short M.2 and the Asus can have 2... Wifi/no-Wifi... 4xUSB3/10xUSB3...

And all that when the Asus is actually a smaller board than the EVGA... I found exactly the same problems with the Z97 boards, none of them actually took advantage of the extras that Z97 had to offer over z87.

Well I just need the BIOS to OC well with advance voltage and power options I don't need fan control or a ton of USB 3.0 since I don't even have any USB 3.0 devices and sata wise the board has more than I need. What I really want on my board are the V check points on board buttons and PCI-e switches which is stuff found on boards that cost 500-550$ here but the EVGA is 350$ even here.

Looked at the GB SOC-Force and MSi Xpower? They are what you really should be looking for if you are focusing on OCing.

And if you are not focusing on OCing or going to be taking advantage of the conectivity options that X99 offers, I don't see the point in ditching X79...

Both the SOC and Xpower cost 500$ here and are barely cheaper than the Rampage V Extreme so if I'm gonna spend that much it's gonna be the Rampage. Really I want X99 for overclocking because X79 is getting old for me and I've managed to royally screw up my board(which I plan to fix by flashing it back to the original release BIOS).

Not really sure about the FTW or the other boards in that price range. By any chance, where are you buying it from, what e-tailer/shop? Have you tried lambda-tek. They ship to CZ, looks like ~16 GBP for a board. But yeah, they are pretty expensive, ~470 USD total.

I'm buying direct from EVGA for 273€ but I'm also buying a pair of Epower boards 118€ so the shipping cost of the board is spread out a fair bit.

I personally wouldn't after my mate had a sli 775 from EVGA and it was the worst board he has ever owned, never ran right from day one, even after 9 BIOS updates, and then it just died. pass on EVGA personally.

I saw that on some (maybe all) EVGAs X99 boards, both ends of the ram slots seem to have the fold-out retention latch/clip. This is problematic if you want to insert ram while there is a video card in the top slot as you can't undo the bottom clip because of the card being in the way. See here in Jayztwocents @ 1:45;

I haven't really had much experience with EVGA as far as mobos go but a friend of mine is still running an X58 board from them (I think it's an X58 SLI LE and he still seems happy with it running an i7 930).

If I were you though I'd stick with the big four being Asus, Gigabyte, ASRock and MSI.

I'd never buy an eVGA motherboard again after my P55 FTW 200 board. They might have gotten better, but they left my very expensive motherboard(at the time the second most expensive board they sold) broken with the last BIOS and then never bothered to even attempt to fix the problems with a new BIOS, then they would delete any comments in their forums asking about fixes for the BIOS. No, I'll never do business with a shady company like that again.

Those are some pretty old boards so I was hoping they got better but I guess it's just not worth the risk so I'll wait for some reviews. Also the 2 reviews on the classfied don't complain about anything so EVGA might have fixed their shiz after all this time.
Does anyone have any experience with Z87/Z97 EVGA boards because they get pretty OK reviews for those.

OK I've decide no X99 for me until later. The current boards are too expensive / too new for me to be able to choose plus I don't know if I'll gain anything form X99 until I figure out if my 3960X is done for or if the new BIOS I'm using is brain dead and can't see my 4th stick of ram when the CPU is above 5Ghz.
I still really like the look and features of the FTW but I might get lucky with a Rampage V Extreme or SOC-FORCE going on sale.
