MOBO DUA?

Hey guys,

First time builder here. The following is my build:

I put the basics together outside the box to make sure components were working. I only put together RAM, CPU, PSU, and MoBo. The MoBo was connected to a monitor. I turned on this system by connecting the front panel of my case to the power connector on the MoBo.

No bios appear on the screen so, I thought maybe if I connected the SSD, there would be some response. Only CPU fan turned on again.

I built this system on a glass top table, in a room with hardwood floors. I also, touched various metal items, like pennys and screws before touching any component.

I will be having an IT guy come and test out the MoBo for me, but building my own system is a learning experience I want.

Any suggestions?

Check all the power connectors. Make sure you plugged the 4-Pin power connector in up near the CPU socket.

I will go ahead and check if the psu is connected correctly again.

Also, I did mot mention that no beeping or led light went off during this process.

I'm really hoping I didn't plug in the psu correctly because I want to get to gaming sooner than later.

Make sure the 4 pin CPU power connector is plugged in. You might want to try with the video card installed. It's possible that your bios is set to display video from the PCI-E slot and it won't default to the onboard for some reason.,

I'm currently at work, but when I get home I'll go ahead and put everything together again. I'll take pictures then. I believe I have connected the PSU to the MoBo correctly, but will double check.

Ok lets start from the scratch.

1. Put motherboard on the motherboard box.
2. I presume you have put the cpu in correctly (check the little arrow on the corner of the cpu and the motherboard to be at the same place)
3. insert only one stick of ram
4. put the psu next to the mobo box and connect the 24 pin motherboard and 4 pin cpu connectors
5. connect to the cases power switch and try to turn it on.

first recheck your connectors and the cables
clearing bios
if you have speaker use it and check does it beep
does the fan spin?

So, my MoBo is not dead; my IT guy had a look at it and turned it on. It might be possible that my PSU is not properly connected (PIctures below). What I think is the issue is actually the F Panel connections. I cannot get the computer to turn on even with the user guide. I think I must be doing something wrong.

Read your motherboard manual. Front panel switches are black for negative, red for positive.

No, it still down not power up. The fan just starts up.

Yeah, I'll be giving it a go again today, but just to confirm the ATX and 12V are correctly connected right?

No, but I connected head phones and nothing happened.

I think the system is power starved, but don't know to to fix it. The disk drive responses as well. It will eject disc tray if I press the button. I can feel the water moving in the water system and the fan will move. There is a signal to the display. If I disconnected it from the computer it will search for visual signal, but still no BIOS.

i may start it from zero again, check the board, check the socket, check the memory slots
make sure the memory sit right
check psu cables and make sure it plugged right
if you have speaker plug in it
check your front connector, which one is reset, power, hdd led, power led
then turn it

Maybe he was busy or thought it would work after he looked at it.....then again, I've met some "IT" guys that were just dumb as hell and couldn't fix a hardware issue to save their life.

Or the IT guy, that I wrote down the exact specs of the DDR RAM in a work computer (was 256MB of DDR 133, I told him the computer needs 1GB because it's running too slow with all the programs we ran on it) for more RAM, found a way to F it up. He sent me DDR2, told me it was faster and would work in the computer better.....he did not seem to grasp the concept that the computer needed DDR and not DDR2. I ended up chewing his ass after multiple conversations with him about the issue and told him to find another line of work.

Hopefully the IT guy here can come back and help you out to make sure it's all connected correctly or at least help you TS the problem.

if the Mobo is in the case did you install the motherboard risors? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00213KL5I/?tag=tec06d-20

If it is not in a case be sure there is no electrical shorting going on on the under side of the mobo. Good luck and welcome to TPU!

It might be my old eyes... But, that connector (24pin in the pictures) does not look to be all the way down.

Did you try it outside the case like someone mentioned?
