One piece of software I really love but could never recommend because of the price tag, is on sale for only $4.99. I don't see how long the sale will last.
This software lets you use your gamepad (360, etc) with games that do not have native gamepad support on pc. you can also redefine and customize the controls to a great degree, for both games that do and ones that do not support controllers. So for example you can also make your non-360 controller work as though it were a 360 controller in games that have support for that.
