Crossfire R9 290 bottleneck i7 870

will it be bottleneck ? I try to overclock my i7 4.1ghz with one R9 290, i'm going to have my 2nd tomorrow i don't know it will be bottleneck or not ?
My specs
P55A-UD4R ( PCI ex 2.0 8x i believe for both slots)
i7 870 @ 4.1 ghz
if for upgrading should i just get the X58 + X5650 @ 3.5ghz about 200$ , or the 3770k + H77 250$, is it more core better for handling multi graphic cards ? I'm quite low on budget for motherboard + CPU now can't go for the 4770k ( would be the best IMHO ) .

Not much I think. Your setup should be comparable to a stock i7 4790, the PCIe 8x would be a bigger bottleneck.

I'd say 10%, tops all things considered.

What screen resolution are you playing at? Overall I think it sounds quite balanced.

IIRC Lynnfield at 4.1 is about equal to haswell at 3.5. Depending what games you play I might honestly upgrade the 870 first. I had one for a while and saw a massive difference going to a 4670k and my GPU is only a 280x.

Also, 2.0x8 isn't slow, but with the new XDMA crossfire I'm not sure that it is the best. There is a review somewhere (I think anandtech or here) that shows 290x cf at different PCI-e specs.

my resolution is 4k, my budget is around 200$ plus my combo around 100$. would the x5650 good ?? i also do streaming and convert vids so i need cores

Graphics upgrade sounds allright then. Upgrading to the next CPU+MB+RAM is too expensive for what it gives currently.

i will receive the 2nd 290 tomorrow, this morning i play dragon age inquisition the cpu load about 99% and gpu about over 90% still choppy, that why i'm a bit worry about the bottleneck

At 4k another GPU makes much more sense than a new CPU. I was at 1280x1024. Disregard my post.

the second 290 should alleviate the choppiness. The Frostbite 3 engine is notably CPU bound so I wouldn't worry that much about the CPU usage. Lowering tessellation to medium should help too.

BTW, are you referring to the stuttering in dialogue sequences? That's a "feature". To correct it copy and paste these commands into the "Command Line Arguments" box found within the game's properties on Origin.

That'll force the game to output 60fps on cutscenes.

Game seems to be very CPU demanding. Players with a modern Intel Quad Core with around 3 GHz should be fine, older or weaker processors with outdatet performance-per-clock ratio, however, may have problems.

An I7 - 920 @ 3,8 ghz seems to have troubles to reach 30 fps on max settings.

Mantle seems to improve performance
A bloomfield Intel CPU like the I7 920 gets a boost of ~ 45% with mantle and a R9 290x
Even a modern I7 4970k gets a 10% boost with mantle.

I mean during the game play,oh i'm quite surprise with the 920 3,8ghz seems that weak now.....i'll test my 290 after work and see the fps .....so is the x5650 Oc would be much improvement ?

in your situation I would not bother getting x58 system with x5650.
3770k on the other hand better option but if I remember correctly h77 doesn't support OC or just a little of it.
I think you current system at 4k with 2 cards will be ok. There will be bottleneck for sure but anyway it should be much smoother then 1 card.

I don't know why but when i install the MSI 290 became the 290x i know it's no performance improve but idk why lol

In dragon age inquisition the fps improve like double

i'm very happy and GPU always load 95~99%
