Asus x99 Deluxe motherboard support

I recently put together my custom built PC with an Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard. Initially, I got an A2 code (IDE Detect) and figured I had left something loose somewhere. I took the whole thing apart and put it back together. The code is gone but now the computer wont boot up. My GTX 980 graphics card seems to give out pretty early on and the whole thing restarts shortly after that. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Am I doing something wrong?

(I have already hit the CMOS button and that did nothing)

My cellphone camera is not the best but...

Pictures for reference:

Thanks!

New builds should be bench tested prior to installation, but failing doing that, remove the graphics card and use the onboard graphics while first booting.
Keep an eye on the LED lights on the Motherboard and make sure they all light up, or if they stop during the boot up, exactly which one it stops at.

X99 doesn't have onboard graphics which is a little annoying.

OP I suggest you remove or unplug all peripherals and anything that isn't necessary to start the PC. Try that out.
Also as you identified the 980 as being a possible cause, try a different graphics card if you can.

If this doesn't work then maybe try taking it out of the case and trying it caseless. Also it might be worth checking the CPU socket in case if any of the pins are damaged. Also it might be worth trying a different PSU while you are at it.

Regarding HDD/IDE issues, my first X99 board (Gigabyte X99 Gaming 5) had issues if I had more than 1 spinning disk which was strange. A bios revision fixed this so it might be worth updating your bios using the USB Flashback tool on your mobo. I used this guide when I did mine, pretty darn easy really. http://event.asus.com/2012/mb/USB_BIOS_Flashback_GUIDE/ Though your A2 code shouldn't be doing causing your issues so I'd only do this if you have tried everything else other people/members have suggested.

Are any of the LEDs on the motherboard lit? They're labeled: DRAM_LED, VGA_LED, and CPU_LED IIRC. When I first got my P9X79 Deluxe, I needed to flash the BIOS because it was unhappy with the DRAM I had chosen. USB Flashback got the new BIOS on the board and it started without a hitch thereafter.

Are you not getting any BIOS codes now? If that's the case, I suspect that there aren't any LEDs lit either.

I just noticed that your cpu heatsink is very close to your graphics card. Have you made sure there is no contact between your graphics card and cpu heatsink?

Hey,

just wanted to give you guys an update. After careful inspection, I realized that there was a small amount of thermal paste inside the cpu. I cleaned it out, rearranged the RAM (the recommended settings were not working) and everything started working just fine.

Thanks anyway!
