So finnaly after a long time of waiting i got a gtx 970. But i have a really shitty monitor at the moment, and i want to play games at a better resolution. So i was looking at this monitors for a few days, not knowing which to buy... :/ (there is a price difference of about 140 euros where i live). So i dont really know the true difference of them... Is there much difference between them, or are they almost the same? Is there a huge difference between "25" inch and "29" inch? I really dont know. Thanks! :)

I don't really like 21:9 monitors for gaming. There are still games that either don't support the resolution or don't support it properly and just stretch the picture to fit. Not to mention I had the 29UM55 for a few days and it ghosted pretty badly. My QNIX QX2710 is so much nicer to game on than the 29UM55.

What about a DELL u2515H? Will the 970 be able to run games at reasonable settings at that res? :)

And btw, i will use the monitor for some light editing :)

The Dell U2515H is a great monitor. I have yet to find a game I couldn't pretty much max out on my 2560x1440 monitor with a single 970.

I heard it had great color quality and great viewing angles. But i just wasn't sure if the 970 could handle it :p Thanks man :)

I got the 29UM instead of the 25UM due to a simple reason, 25UM gives you 20" (16:9 ratio) inch screen height ... 29UM gives you a 23" (16:9 ratio) screen height with more width than a 27" one and 29" in diagonal. As my desk is not really big and the screen must be upped (due to the speakers) ... I'm not able to run two monitors, I didn't wanted a 27" 16:9 due to its height and didn't want to force my neck ... and as I came from a 23" monitor, the 29UM was the perfect solution for my needs, which is multitasking and some gaming, specially racing or shooter ones. I experienced 0 problems with the screen connected to two rigs ... and using the PBP function which allows you to display both computers at the same time.

You can do a lot of comparison with ratios and heights here ... for example, 23" 16:9 vs 29" 21:9 http://www.displaywars.com/29-inch-21x9-vs-23-inch-16x9
Cheers :toast:

EDIT: @newtekie1 is right in the point that you should check that the games you play can run in that native ultra-wide resolution. I didn't had problems with the ones I play cause that resolution is supported but you never know, so check it before :)

My neighbour has the 29UM and he loves it and I must say the bits of gameplay I have seen him run on it look very nice, personally I would get one but mainly because I know the only 3 games I play have the resolution support. I know he had some issues with a couple of unsupported games but he found some quite elaborate workarounds I think that he seems to be happy with but I would guess that if you play loads of games you may struggle.

29 is to much. I played alot of games on a 34 inch TV.For shooters it's very good but strategy ,rpg not so good. And for anything else it's very bad for your eyes to stay so close to a big monitor.

It's 29" but in 21:9 format, size of the screen is actually 27.7" width x 13.0" height without the stand. Or were you talking about a 21:9 34" as well?

I loved the fact of "panoramic" resolution for RPGs (Diablo 3) and racing (Assetto Corsa) ... talking about shooters (CS:S and CS:GO) I really like the wide factor but you have to be more aware since you see a 33% more than in a regular 16:9 resolution, or maybe the fact that I didn't played a shooter for 2 years influences in a certain way  :D

Anyway, i must refer to @Tatty_One since I also got this monitor cause I knew the 4-5 games I play are currently supported for this resolution, take your shot.
