is 1 tb enough space for HHD?

i'm going with a 1tb HHD for my new build will 1 TB be enough space for 10 or more massive games with DLCs patches and so on. i have been told if you use all your space in your HDD say like 90% full it will slow down your pc is that true or should i go for a 2tb or higher? i do not want to get a SSD.

ESO is my biggest game i have with update 6 is 13gb. i guess i say its 80gb in total.

it depends on how much platters are in hdd
the old legend says that it's better to have 2 HDDs: 1 for system and 1 for rest(it's safier and your data is not so dependent on memory access time - pagefile uses your hdd, system uses your hdd and game/program uses your hdd ->you got lags cause head of hdd is in beginng of platter, than in the end and than in the middle - it's very rough for mechanical parts with such low techprocess)

on the other hand, i had my st2000dm001 alone for system and files for 1 year and it was realy laggy as hell when something more than 5Gb is written on it-example movie (when it reached more than 50% of it - i got lags more often and for longer time)
i can advice you to take 240Gb SSD than 1-2-4-6-8Tb HDD(just from my point of view and user expirience)

i know ssd are always better but 240gb really enough space for everything i need, i cant afford the 1tbs maybe i should look into the 500gb ssd

I still don't see an ssd in my future builds. I will always have time to wait for the PC to boot up or load a game.
BTW I thought you wanted a 1TB HDD because you needed more space for games and now you will get a SSD that's half the size and 2 times more expensive.?

I'm fine with a 320gb and 80gb lol. As long as you don't hoard programs and games you don't use you'll be good with 500gb nowadays tbh.

Speed is more important.

1 TB is plenty for even 10 of the most massive games. The biggest game that I know of, GTA V, requires 55 GB. So that's 550 GB for 10 games like it and a 1 TB will be fine. I need 2 TB because I have too many games on my HDD that I will probably never have time to play and will probably buy more on Steam/Origin sales. That's a very nice SSD you linked to at a great sale price but imo 500 GB is a bit excessive unless you plan to only use your HDD for data/ backups etc.

500Gb is enough. But the price difference is not that much from 1 Tb. Unless you get a WD Black 500 for $55 on sale. But keep in mind any 500Gb drive on the market still are going to be old stock. So might as well get the 1 Tb

For me speed and loading time is very important, both in OS and also in games. If you choose to go for an SSD, make sure it has the speed and space.
Today SSD's arent that expensive, as they were just a few years ago. You could consider a hybriddisk, so you get loadingtimes almost like a genuine SSD and get the space of a normal HD.
It works in the way like the programmes/games you use the most, will be stored in the SSD ram on it, so access becomes quick, and you have more space for the same money than on a normal SSD. The downside is that writing times is the same as on a normal 7200 HD, it dosent matter much if its just for games, since its the loadingtimes that are important.

I have in my system all 3 types, 1x512GB Crucial mx100 SSD for OS and most played games, then I have a 500GB hybriddisk from Seagate to host steamaccount and just games, and finally a 1,5TB WD black for movies, p*rn and other stuff.

Agree go with SSD. HDD are a thing of the past! SSD's are lightning fast,you will not regret. I got external hdd for storage.I can say when it comes to storage space i NEVER have enough. I love saving stuff and adding it to my collection.

I generally get 1TB size drives even though they eventually fill up. They have the best performance and reliability of the large capacity drives. Plus my case has 4 hot swap bays and easy access front doors that swing out to pull the HDDs out. This makes it pretty easy to pop in an older drive with older games on it.
