What's d3d? I use fraps, but if I had a good nvidia card I would use shadow play.

If you have an nvidia card you can use shadowplay, if you have an AMD card you can try the raptr app or try this

I used to always recommend DxTory since it came out, as it was the first one that really solved the lag problem Fraps has and is MUCH more full featured for only a bit more money, but I agree with the others. If I had a 650 or better Nvidia card, I would not look any further than Shadowplay.

Today's world is all about quick and convenient, and Shadowplay has that in spades. You can't get much better than being able to game unencumbered with no capture prog running, then click one button and capture the last 20 min of gameplay at 1080p. The primary reason I don't capture much anymore is I got REALLY sick of lengthy trial and error recording sessions, where I have to keep deleting unused clips.

And if 20 min isn't enough duration to handle your project, you can manually record with it running in the background with little to no lag too. BTW, I've tried Raptr's Game DVR, which works with Nvidia and AMD, and it's not nearly as good as Shadowplay. There's zero reason to use Game DVR if you have a Shadowplay capable GPU, which is what it takes to use Game DVR as well, since they both utilize the x264 encoder in the GPU chip.

No one's really stating they officially support W10, since it isn't even a final build yet. I would not advise buying a capture program yet if you plan to use it with W10 for that reason. You can get by on trial versions and there's even some free capture programs or ones that have free versions. That or just use Shadowplay or Game DVR if you have an Nvidia or AMD card that supports it, until the software is actually W10 supported.

They are simply saying what works well for them, and as far as information out there goes, it seems it works that good for most. But that doesn't mean it will for everyone, and you might be the case here.

D3dgear supports Mantle, that's about the only good thing about it though. In my experience, it caused all sorts of graphical oddities in games and the windows desktop.

Ive used OBS once or twice, and IMO it is great for pairing up with Dxtory to capture just about anything(or OBS on its own to stream unless its one of those games that OBS doesn't like and You need Dxtory while streaming)....Im an AMD(GPU) owner so I cannot take advantage of Shadowplay.

Then again, it just so happens you also have the bare minimum required GPU for it. I imagine in such situations it depends a lot what game you're capturing.

This is what I've been using for years. I bought fraps years ago when it was pretty much all there was and I keep using it because I'm lazy and cheap. But that, in conjunction with Handbrake can make some great quality stuff.

Handbrake is easy and quick to use, but I don't like that it adds saturation and darkens the output file so much you get noticeably less detail in dark scenes. I thought it may have been just the game, my spec, etc, but when I did a seach for it many were saying the same thing. A shame really, because other than that it's a "handy" tool.
