Hello all. Since I got my SSD I have been running in IDE mode. I found out though that it is better to run in AHCI mode instead. So, I hopped into the bios and made the switch only to find I couldn't boot. No big surprise I suppose. I would get the windows logo for a second followed by a quick BSOD flash and then automatic reboot saying that windows failed to boot. So I switched back to IDE naturally. What is causing this issue? To make the switch over will I have to reinstall my OS? I also found this..
"If you have a CD/DVD drive or Blu-ray drive on the same controller as your SSD then you will probably have to use IDE mode. Most optical drives only work in IDE mode."
So if that is the case, will I need to switch my CD drive to a port like my SATA 5 port and then go into bios and change the settings for sata ports 1-4 to AHCI and leave 5-8 as IDE?
I suppose I am little lost here. Maybe. Thanks all!
