Just picked up a Windforce 290x off of craigslist and I think something might be wrong with it. I got the card and the latest drivers installed. The card works and I can play games on it but its not performing the way it should be. Like GTA V will only run smooth on medium settings, my firestrike score went from around 10k on the 970 to 7500 on the 290x. My psu should have plenty of juice for the card and my temps peak at 84c, so I don't think heat is an issue.
A few things I've done since I got the card:
I came from a GTX970 so I used DDU to remove the gforce drivers
Removed the heatsink and reapplied the TIM
Tried several driver versions
Flipped the silent/uber switch
Underclocked and overclocked
While I had the heatsink off I noticed the card has Elpida memory chips. GPUZ says it has Hynix
EDIT:
Got it figured out. Some idiot flashed the wrong bios's on the card. Had to force flash the correct ones. All is good now.
