Need help with Windows 8 key

Hi,
I need help with an Windows 8 key, I made an installation with the Windows 8 that went wrong after the activation, and when I was activate the key after a clean install I received a message that that key was already redeemed.
How can I get my key back?
I would like to move to new Windows 10 legitimately, with out piracy.

Any help or advice is very welcome.

What @newtekie1 said. I had to do this when I moved my ssd from one rig to my main rig which is almost identical. Phone option worked fine.

Actually the correct answer is 1. The only rig and should only be 1, he has the os installed on. Also @OneMoar is right. Keep things legal and only use the key with only 1 rig. I have no ideal why mine triggered the call activation as the key was only activated once. I guess maybe because I moved the drive with the os to my main rig from my test rig which is almost Identical to my main rig. But I still am only using the Os key on only 1 rig. The test rig is running the win7 drive from my main rig which didn't need to be reactivated.

I always just use 1 I say I walk the grey line of COAs as most probably do but don't like to admit. I know of the white knights waiting for the moment to strike ready to preach off the EULA or some such stating that if the mobo changes you need to buy a new copy but the reality is. if I use the key on one machine and i change any if all of the parts as long as I am not using it on another rig that is functional I call say its 1 and move on with my life. Otherwise i buy a new key.

OEM keys are, yeah, annoying. I've seen people buy used COAs that come with a stick of memory out of the original server to make things "legit". I don't know how well that circumnavigates the legal wordings for OEM keys, but people will try anything.

That's exactly what I do also. I tested the Os in my test bed first then moved the whole drive over to my main rig.

I always say one. Because its installed when you call

OEMs aren't annoying its the retail version that are. I never have to call OEM unless I change boards. Retail after like 5 install you have to call every time

Interestingly enough I used to actually pirate software and now I can honestly say I have bought every piece of software I have . The reason being that pirating watching for updates activators .dll copies unplugging from the internet simply wasn't worth it. Years later I took up a masters course for digital forensics and I dont need to worry about stupid shit when I get home anymore.

I'm the same way. I use to pirate everything. Now i have the $ so i pay just to not have to worry about it.

But it doesn't mean I won't install an OEM copy 43 times one at a time when I change hardware.

I can take this drive and throw it in any machine in the world and it will never bitch about activation ever ...
there are plenty of shady hackivations and haf-baked cracks ... but there is always at least one reliable method and buying a copy isn't one ...

Ive never had any problems by activation my win 8.1 OEM over the phone, all is automated and you give them 20-25 numbers and get a new set back. It only takes a few minutes.

However there is a couple of things that are forgotten.

How level you are about software skills?,
Paid off to get a genuine key?,
It´s funny to do piracy?,

And also there are many questions around this theme;
When Microsoft asks you 100€~200€ for a single retail key I go for uninstall the KB971033 file ( I´m still a w7 user),

But when they promote keys for an affordable price,

Why not, I can do this,
And the most painful thing around the fact of the to be or not to be is actually the time spend on each.

If you are an high end software user you just press a single keyboard key and do your mojo,
I am a low entry software user and it´s annoying lost time several times around the same issue, as the matter of fact I can write because when I look to the keyboard I can see differences between the keys, I´m that bad on this matter and when I can kill time I simple go for it no matter the consequences.

I'm a goodie two-shoes.

I own everything, licenses for each computer, etc, don't pirate in general. Don't have many DRM issues either. If I ever have an issue, a phone call fixes it.

I will say, as a paying customer I shouldn't have ANY issues at all that even require a phone call, but w/e.
