Are these pins fixable

I am thinking about buying this for very cheap. Are these pins fixable and if so how, what do i need or should i not bother.

I am pretty handy, i have magnifying glasses, what else do i need ? is there such a thing as a pin straightener?

If by very cheap... you mean like free or a couple of bucks; I would try it.
It all depends on how much you like to gamble.
The pic ain't super clear, but, a couple of them pins look like they may snap off, if you try to bend them back to the original position.

I used a magnifier setup, spudgers and some dental picks when faced with the problem.

Hopefully 5 quid delivered, and i am prepared to lose that for the challenge of doing it i think, ive never tried it before.

It isnt my pic, but to my eye the damage looks repairable, i know some people take them to jewellers to have them repaired but it isnt in my nature to pay others.

Amazon still lists them and sells them new for £74.00 so i reckon it might be worth a stab.

I am afraid it is because it is fuzzy and I don't see any bent pins - unless you mean all of them.

That said, it is my experience that those type pins can only be bent once - twice if very lucky. Which means if bent now, they will break when trying to straighten them back out.

I have repaired a few boards with bent pins in my time..... just have to be patient and take your time with it. Yes they are fragile so you can't go Hulk Smashing around in there. As long as the pins aren't folded over themselves or at some really crazy angle you should be able to fix it.

Dental picks and spudgers are your friends. And yes do use a magnifying glass.

It depends if the broke off one is an important pin

A powerful magnifier and a needle

If its not broke then it can be fixed. Ive fixed a lot worse

$10 is about what its worth. You can replace the whole socket

Those are going to RAM side, and there are fully broken ones already. Only a new socket.

That really throws the gauntlet down.....I am thinking if i never try the first one the second has no chance of success !!

If he sends pics and the price stays good the incentive NOT to fail is there.
I am not writing it off just yet.......

Speaking from experience fixing LGA1366 sockets on a batch of X58 Sabertooths a while back, it's much harder than you think... don't go into it expecting success.

Of course, this is coming from the guy who can't even apply thermal paste correctly, and has a tendency to punt the mobo across the room when I fail. YMMV

Always try to straighten the pins, it will be a great experience for you if you have never done it before.
I have repaired a few in the past and one think i can tell you for sure is that you require major patience and surgeon hands. Be careful, use a magnifying class and some really fine precision tools.
Do not doubt yourself, you can do it brother! Don't bend them too far back into an 'over position'.
Snapped pins pretty much means : game over. Either way, try to repair it for your own personal experience.
Be careful not to bend any more while trying to straighten one up, i remember i did that to my first socket pin repair.

There is a guy here in Melbourne that can replace the socket for you, he charges $145au which includes labour.

Asus will do the same thing for 35 bucks. :\

Exploded a socket once, took out a dozen or so pins. With a small hobby knife and a pair of tweezers I got all of the pins back where they needed on a P55 board.
Takes some time, but seems doable, and at that price, why not give it a try.

If I can find the images in the depths of TPU, I will put them here.
