Will it fit? Yes.

Will it be compatible with your PSU? Possibly not.

What's the make and model of that PSU? Also, does it have 1 x 8pin and 1 x 6pin for GPU power?

Also check your motherboard, ensure it has at least a single PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot. It's one of those OEM HP jobbies, unsure if it's OK. Scratch that, checked it's specs and the motherboard is fine.

Personally I don't think the GTX 970 will work with that PSU. To be fair, I'd be liable to replace half of that system, especially the PSU.

Thanks for replying. About those pins, I have a P5,6,8 and 10 mark on the cable, does that indicate the pins? As for my PSU, I have taken a picture and the max wattage seems to be 460W.

Triple rail 360W design. Provided you have an 8pin on the 12a rail and a 6pin on the 12b rail it will work, but it won't be pretty or particularly safe/reliable.

To provide power to your GTX 970 you'll need two of these:

Or at least one 6pin (You've got that plugged into your GTX 760 right now) plus one of the above.

Long story short, buy a better PSU that has these things and a single rail design.

EDIT: Here's a list of good options:

Will it fit, yes!

@RCoon basically summed it up though, I would get a different PSU mostly because that one from HP is not meant for that type of gaming load. Though the GTX 970 is not power hungry and the PSU says up to 460watt it is not on a single rail (according to the PSU diagram) which could cause problems down the line. You can get a nice 450-500watt PSU that is bronze certified in the range of $30-$50 that will handle the system just fine.

I have only one 6pin and that's the one in my 760. So I guess I'll need a new PSU then. Is there a PSU you can recommend? Also, is replacing a PSU difficult/dangerous for a beginner?

Cheers

The one in my post above is a solid quality performer, and has a 6pin as well as a 6+2pin (8pin).

Replacing PSU is nice and easy. Unscrew the 4 screws holding it to the case, remove 24pin from motherboard, 4pin from the CPU slot near the CPU fan, and the power plugged into the HDD. Put the new PSU in the same place, replacing each cable with the same cables you took out. Some fans might be powered by Molex connectors, so be sure to unplug and use the ones on the new power supply.

Obviously, turn the PC off first, and unplug the damn thing

@RCoon gave a great suggestion but ill throw mine in as well.

First, no its easy to do for anyone. The cables just need to be unplugged and you can easily reconnect everything back up with the new PSU as they really only can go in one way and only in their designated slots. There are also build guides on youtube about hooking a PSU up in case your worried.

Here are my recommendation keeping the price down:

EVGA Bronze 500Watt

Made quite a few machines with these, it will suffice and its pretty cheap (Especially if you include a rebate).

If your in the US, I have a Seasonic X-Series 760 watt modular Gold PSU for you for $60 shipped. Granted your case accepts a standard ATX PSU. I know Dell has been funny in the past with proprietary mounts, not sure on HP.

Thanks for the offer, but I live in Europe.
