I recently upgraded from a 6850 and never had this issue with that card, but now I have a GTX 970 and if I don't have GPU-Z as the active window, so it's sitting in the "background", it won't refresh. It happens no matter what other window I am in.. if GPU-Z is not the focus, it will not refresh real time and won't refresh at all again until I click back into it. How can I resolve this?

Also, the second to last row has a weird block over it all the time. As I type this, it's a gray bar and covers the entire row.. sometimes it is other colors, such as blue, and sometimes it's only a partial block of the row.

Here's a quick video.. I just threw the GPU-Z capture on top of a game capture to demonstrate.

Thanks in advance.

edit: Turns out I don't know how to read. Thanks m&m's! Still not sure about the random color bar, though. Thanks again!

You need to tick the option at the bottom of the sensors tab.

You're probably talking about PerfCap.

This is a feature of newer NVIDIA drivers. They report back why performance is capped (reason for clocks reduced)

When you are not running a 3D app, clocks go down -> Limited by GPU Utilization

Other possible values are when the card is running into power limit, or when it's running too hot. There are also cap reasons related to voltage.

vRel = Reliability. Indicating perf is limited by reliability voltage.
VOp = Operating. Indicating perf is limited by max operating voltage.
Pwr = Power. Indicating perf is limited by total power limit.
Thrm = Thermal. Indicating perf is limited by temperature limit.
Util = Utilization. Indicating perf is limited by GPU utilization.

Yes, it's the PerfCap Reason (which I couldn't see the name of most of the time). Clicking the first link explained the bug I experience. Oddly enough, before I clicked the link, I took a screenshot of the GPU-Z window and the bug seemed to resolve itself. Now it appears normal.

Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated!
