I bought a brand new gtx 970 yesterday, It seems to be malfunctioning thou, I'm getting blackscreen whenever I play demanding games
I managed to gather up some data, I noticed that black screen followed by buzzing sound happen whenever my POWER% usage reaches 95-100%, at that moment one of two things happen 1. computer reboots (may or may not get bsod), 2. driver manages to recover, game crashes.
When situation 2 happened I took a screenshot of msi afterburner's graph, when the screen went completly black my power usage was at 95% but it continued to spike up to 150% during the blackout. 150% is the graph's limit, im assuming the spike goes beyond that.
My psu is a HX650 by corsair 80%+ gold
Previously runnning a gtx 560 which I believe has higher power consumption than my new card, so it probably rules out a faulty power supply as the culprit
I found a temporary fix for this problem, it is far from ideal but for now it will have to do. On afterburner set the power limit % to 90 instead of 100.
I think this might either be a driver issue related to windows 10 (gonna install windows 8.1 to confirm it), hardware problem or bad bios.
Windows 10
Gtx 970 mini itx gigabyte GV-N970IXOC-4GD
Drive tested: 352.84 and 355.60
My bios version is 84.04.2f.00.72
PSU 650hx corsair
2 3,5" hds
i5 2600
mb H61M-A
Does anyone have any idea about what is going on?
