WD My Cloud EX2 - I own one - the best NAS device I ever owned.......
Mine is a 4TB (2 x 2 TB WD Reds) - but I run RAID 1 - so I only have 2 TB available
You can also throw 2 x 4 TB in

- Has 2 USB 3.0 connectors
- Has 1 GB LAN port
- Apps can be installed (PLEX, aMule, etc etc) and you can manually install apps, and there are many
- Supports DLNA streaming
- TimeMachineBackups

Can we use it as 4TB? Combine 2TB +2TB as 4TB?

Thanks a lot for your valuable reply.

Two queries:-

1. I just saw one video review where the reviewer said that , we can not send link to some one and ask them to download,, for that first we need to create their Accounts? it was considered as its drawback.... is this possible by any means..?

2.Can we have a common login for other people to upload their stuff on my WD NAS just like FTP...?

Okay - done some testing and research.

There is the possibility to use WD Cloud Access and shares via app (for Windows, IOS, Android and Mac)
for sharing things and collaborate - both on internal and external network , meaning you have to install the WD My Clouds application/program.
And then you have to setup accounts and shares - that allow the WD My Cloud apps to up and download the content
you want to share.
I have tested it from a Windows client and my Android device - and it works great, both from internal end external network.

You can also enable the FTP server feature - and you have to make user accounts and shares on the EX2 device (all via web interface)
- it also works great from a FTP program or webbrowser.

So yes - you cannot send a link for some content on the FTP share without creating an account - and seen from a security point it makes sense.

And yes - you can create a common account (anonymous user) for uploading use

Yes - just run JBOD or RAID 0

Note: Using either of these disk configs is risky.

JBOD - If disk 2 dies, you lose all data on it. If disk 1 dies, you lose all data on both of them (can't access disk 2 without disk 1).

RAID 0 - If either disk dies, you lose all data on them.

You're better off doing RAID 1 (mirroring). At least you have some protection with that disk config.

Yes you are right - but if he wants 4 TB and have 2 x 2 TB disks its the only option - but the best would be to put in 2 x 4TB disks and run RAID 1

Thanks a lot for your detail valuable information.

1. At present I planning to Buy WD 4TB My Cloud White , I cant afford Mirror version as I need to back my current data.
2. Instead of mirroring I planning to backup IMP data on two drives which I have.

Wasn't the original question about a DISK? I don't think the guy asked about a NAS.
(It's interesting though, because Synology feels overcomplicated and like an elephant)
