Question about 120Hz TVs: 60Hz mode?

As per the title, is it possible to set a 120Hz TV to 60Hz? I've only seen a Samsung 120Hz at a relative's house and I couln't find any way to disable do this. Is that the same for every other brand?

I don't really like the effect it gives to movies and TV but would like to have the 120Hz option for games.

120hz TV's don't actually portray games at 120hz, they just add in an intermediate frame between every normal frame, increasing your input lag. It's all marketing BS, and only really useful for movies with tonnes of motion.

afaik a TV will run in 60hz if hooked to a computer, tho it might only be related to my Toshiba 32L1343DG, on specs it's a 200hz and it only have vga and HDMI entry and the resolution and refresh rate is 1080p 60hz in computer mode (VGA or HDMI)
