Hello Forum

I've made quite a few threads the last two days, but i have found the final choice.

Intel 2,8 Ghz Quadro-Core
AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition
8GB Kingston DDR3 Ram
120GB ssd GB harddrive
650 W PSU
Windows 10 x64

I got told this would be able to play BF4 and Fallout on medium setttings, maybe even high settings. It's tottaly new build and have never been used before.

The price is 513$ US DOLLARS, is this a fair price? (NEVER USED)

Seems pretty old to me, thus a bit on the high side for price. You did not say what model number but I am finding 2.8GHz Quad Intels for under $50. The 7870 graphics card comes in several versions so without knowing exactly which one, it is hard to tell with that. Same with the power supply and motherboard and SSD.

Bottom line, we need the exact model numbers of everything to give you a honest answer.

Seeing "never used" really does not mean a whole lot when it comes to electronics. Old is still old.

Does it come with any warranty?

^^^Ditto. I would like to see exactly what you're getting to know if it's a good deal for you. You never said what your budget is (not in the other thread either), if I recall correctly. How much you can realistically spend is also helpful.

??? Resolution? How is that the biggest question? There was no mention of the monitor. I am not saying resolution is not important when gaming, but at this point, we really don't know enough to make any suggestions.

How is Resolution the biggest question? Because it has EVERYTHING to do with the ability of his hardware to accomplish what he needs!

Depends a bit on the CPU I think. There are pretty new i5's with that clock speed, but I'm assuming it's not a new one. Could even be Core 2 Quad. So yes, too expensive.

Because it has EVERYTHING to do with the ability of his hardware to accomplish what he needs!
??? No it doesn't. It actually has next to nothing to do with his hardware - except his graphics card and most importantly, and ultimately, the monitor.

Depends a bit on the CPU I think.
Nope. Not even his CPU, in this case, matters - because he is using a graphics card.

The monitor size the monitor's aspect ratio are the key defining factors that will determine the resolution. That's it! Now FPS is another issue.

Not hardly. But since resort to personal insults and not bothered to provide any rationale as why resolution is "the biggest question", has "EVERYTHING" to do with the ability of the hardware to accomplish what he needs, then it is clear you speak like someone who can't justify his claims.

Explain how system RAM is affected by the resolution, or the resolution by the RAM. Explain how the CPU is too - noting, again, he is using a graphics card.

I did not say resolution is not important, but, with what we do know, it sure is not top of the list. Without knowing what monitor, then resolution is basically a moot point at this juncture. It could be a 19" 4:3 monitor for all we know. If you don't accept that, then I am sorry, but it does not change the facts.

Bill, Bill Bill. The internet requires a thick skin. Sorry if I hurt your feelings. But Bill...One simple question. Would his hardware play games at 4k?

SK-1, SK-1 SK-1. You did not hurt my feelings. I just see derogatory and condescending comments towards another in a technical discussion as puerile and counterproductive to helping the posters.
Would his hardware play games at 4k?
Gee! Maybe if we knew what monitor he would be using, we might have better intel to answer that. I would say the odds are, he does not even have a 4K monitor since they are expensive, most people don't, and most people looking for advice for budget computers don't have that sort of budget.

So how about backing up your claims and tell us how RAM or his CPU (noting again, he has a graphic card) affects resolution - instead of skirting the issue by answering a question with a question?

Interesting. I see bad advise (like yours) as puerile and counterproductive to helping the posters.

And its rich that you agree with my original post. "Maybe if we knew what monitor he would be using, we might have better intel to answer that."

SK, this isn't just the internet. It's TPU. It is a civilized place where we come to have rational debate and reasonable discussion, not a place to try and bring people's ego/mood down because of how much knowledge you perceive someone else has versus yours. Simply put, we need more information from the OP to allow us to help him with his specific situation.

Come on, dude! No where in your original post did you mention anything about the monitor.

Bad advice? Asking for more information to clarify the situation is bad advice? It is clear we all see how you are - unable to defend your own inaccurate claims, and unwilling to man-up, only able to and admit it, incapable of no more than name-calling. Move on.
