So today, i finally took a decision and bought a used Predator G3620 pre-built. I've played Counter Strike: Global Offensive with excelent frames and graphics. Same goes for Far Cry 3 on very high settings!

On the 30 November, i get my paycheck and i wanna upgrade this computer. I have a budget of 430$ Us Dollars. I'm 100% buying a new GPU, but i dont know what else i should prioritate.

Here are the current specs:
Windows 8
AMD Radeon HD 8760 2GB
Intel Core i5 3350P Processor (Socket 1155 LGA)
16 GB DDR3 RAM
Motherboard Acer Predator G3620 (Chipset: Intel - Ivy Bridge ---- Southbride: P75/B75)
120 SDD Hard Drive + 1 Terabyte Hard Drive
450-500 W PSU ( Not sure about this one !!) But i have Energon - EPS-750W from my old computer i maybe could replace it with?!

That's it! What upgrades would be the first to make for a better gaming experiences! (BUDGET 430$)

And please recommend me some GPU's which will fit for my sysmem, because i heard you just can buy anything it have to fit in sockets right.?

And why does it say my GPU is this? It says on the machine that its a AMD Radeon 8760???

I think the 8760 is likely an OEM rebrand of the 7700 series.

To improve framerate, definitely upgrade that old graphics card. I strongly recommend going NVIDIA.

The CPU is fine.

Thank you mate, and sure! But what's the diffrence? Do you get more for the money?

And will any GPU fit? or only a few?

That system looks really familiar. I can't put my finger on it...

Technically any GPU can fit in the slot. What we need to know is more about the PSU in the computer now, such as amps (can you take a picture of label on side of the PSU, and of the 750w one also?

Since your budget is limited, we need to know what your system can power first, so the PSU information is most important.

Either AMD or Nvidia would be fine, they are mostly all very good these days.

Why, nothing is wrong with amd?

As far as an upgrade goes, I would get a new psu and a nice gpu. With that budget, I would get a decent 550-600watt psu and an r9 390. That would be less than the budget and get you pretty much max 1080p performance.

Can you show us the case because length might be a problem but since it seems this was a gaming oriented build this should have enough room.

Thanks...it's like deja vu all over again. :)

So, quad rail with 20amps on each 12v, but an abnormally large number of amps on 3.3v and 5v line.

Good sir, and/or @dorsetknob, what was the verdict on it?

the psu had been in a system with a 8800gt if memory serves me, so if given correct housekeeping may be okay, obviously new would be better and i am sure we would all advise such as first choice but this unit has hardly have been stretched by the previous resident gpu, is a good known brand and is sold as a gaming edition. I would reuse it, if only as a stop-gap.

@Bill_Bright i think this purchase was made (and thread started) when the bun fight next door went "unresolved" .......... pun intended ! :peace:

Nowadays there's everything wrong with AMD. Just check out the reviews and see the state of the company in news stories. I won't invest in an expensive graphics card from them under these conditions.

@DeidaraLP1 I recommend a new PSU from a decent brand like Seasonic or Corsair to go with your new graphics card. There's lots of good PSUs from other companies too.

Eyyy thread number 3? 4? I lost count.

That PSU looks sketchy with that kind of font. Like something EA could've made inside of a knock-off Morrowind thing. Someone poke it and see if it moves.

New PSU unless "OP" got a decent one, and maybe a GTX950?

Umm...don't get what's wrong with their gpus since at most price point they are better minus top end. i could argue about what is a better investment company wise but that's irrelevant in this debate. AMD ain't going anywhere anytime soon so let's leave that on the bench ok?
OP allready has a decent PSU to swap into this build as caps points out above ^^^^^^
But how old is it, if it's anything beyond 3 years old and not a major brand it could be sketchy. Plus with that budget and considering the cards in that range a nice psu and gpu will be a great improvement.

Thank you guys, lots of good ideas! I'm buying a new GPU and PSU. Im not sure which one yet, but i'll find something.

Is it hard to change out the PSU and GPU by yourself? Only thing i've ever done is changing ram ;-)

And why does it say my GPU is this? It says on the machine that its a AMD Radeon 8760???

I think the 8760 is likely an OEM rebrand of the 7700 series.

For peoples information, the 8760 is a HD 7770 wearing lipstick. Great performance per watt, and not a lot else :p

Nah! While the "company" may be making some business decisions that leave us scratching our heads, they still make quality products and there is no reason to believe those products will suddenly stop working, or support for those products will suddenly stop either.

You "invest" in a company or product expecting it will make you money or stay productive for years to come. Again, there is no reason to believe if you "invest" in an AMD graphics card or processor that it will stop working or continued support for that product will suddenly leave you in the lurch.

Umm...don't get what's wrong with their gpus
There isn't anything that's "wrong" with their GPUs or CPUs. Both are "reliable", and "quality" products that can be expected to last just as long as NVIDIA or Intel products.

Just because AMD is heading off into a different direction, that does not mean they will leave their millions and millions of current customers hanging.

Some folks are just adamant and loyal fans of one brand over another - to the point of being blind to the virtues of the other brand.

if it's anything beyond 3 years old and not a major brand it could be sketchy.
Very true! But "could be" and "is" are two very different beasts!

There are still millions and millions of old XP, Vista and early W7 entry-level Dells, HPs, eMachine systems out there with generic PSUs that were barely adequate from the beginning still chugging along just fine. Many of these computers sit in offices and home cubby holes have NEVER been cleaned of years of heat trapping dust, carpet fuzz and pet hair that have been sucked in.

You really never know when electronics is going to die, until it dies. Typically, it either dies within the first few hours of use (if not the first power up), or years down the road. And even then, odds are with computer technologies, it will simply be replaced and tossed in a dump due to obsolescence before it has a chance to die gracefully of old age.

@GhostRyder @Bill_Bright I'm happy to discuss AMD with you guys, but it's a bit off topic for this thread, so please start a new one or PM me if you'd like to continue.

Note that I'm off sick at the moment :( and can't concentrate on much, so it might be a little while until I reply.

Then stick on topic and don't make comments like that... Suggest a card and give a reasoning with real merit not "Buy only Nvidia".

A PSU is a central part of any computer system and to important to risk especially when we have all seen what can happen. At his budget of ~$400 there are not a whole lot of choices on new cards besides the R9 390X which in this case is probably not going to be worth it considering its competition (Namely the GTX 970 and R9 390) are close enough in performance to not warrant the extra $100. With those cards coming in around $300 that leaves $100 for a great PUS which in my opinion balances out the budget well and should max any game at 1080p easily while not having to worry about the PSU going out.

Then stick on topic and don't make comments like that... Suggest a card and give a reasoning with real merit not "Buy only Nvidia".
Ah, thanks for the sympathy mate. :slap: What attitude. You certainly don't tell me what to do. My initial comment to the OP was on topic and still valid, but it's you that dragged it off. My conversation with you is over.
