HD 7700 to R7 360, worthwhile?

Been thinking about upgrading my son's gfx card and am wondering if this is a worthwhile upgrade. I don't really want to spend a lot of money and this card is $140. Any input / advice is welcome.

I had 7770 Ghz Edition Vapor X and was a decent GPU.

Sell the 7770 and get better one.

R7 370/270X/256 bits or a 950. Goodluck

reading some reviews, it seems its a decent upgrade

only other option is a GT 750 and the store i use only has 1GB models.

Not looking to break the bank on this upgrade, my son is only 5 and my daughter is 13 (she only plays sims 4 on the pc)

u need min. 2 Gb

Maybe find a 370/270x/280x or 950/960 between this is worth an upgrade like that.

If neither plays any real games don't bother upgrading it. 1080P is more than capable on the 7770 with sims 4. Wait and buy a better card when needed.

My son plays quite a few games on Steam, some are more graphically demanding then others. i'd say the most taxing game he plays is minecraft or L4D2. My daughter also plays minecraft as well and likes to mod it sometimes. Also the fan is starting to die, bought it 2nd hand a year and a bit ago.

So a new card is kinda needed as im not willing to buy cooling for a 7770

That makes more sense. Look on your local CL and grab a 7950/7970/280x/290x all of the bitcoiners around me have just flooded the market with them for cheap cheap. I have seen 7950's getting dumbed for $30.

I only have a 500w psu in the kids machine, that narrows down options considerably. Would a GTX 660 be too much for this rig? There is a used one for $140 on my local buy and sell

A single 7950 will run just fine on any half decent 500w? That limits nothing only card I wouldn't trust on a good 500w is a dualie card.

welp, it fried my PSU :eek:

luckily nothing else was taken out with it. Have a CoolerMaster G750M in there now. Shouldnt have any more problems :rockout:

stock 3Dmark results

temps on cpu with stock HSF (other one died) never more then 60C
temps on gpu never more then 68C

Gtx950s got a price drop for the holidays to like a $139 MSRP.

update: the card runs great paired with the i5 2400

great fps in games and Minecraft doesnt stutter anymore
