OCZ Trion 100, 240 GB SSD any good?

I can get this 240GB SSD for just 66 Euros (instead of the usual 95 Euros):

People used to hate on OCZ, for very good reasons. The OCZ days of the agility 3 are attrocious.

Toshiba now own and supply them, so their Trion and Arc series are perfectly reasonable domestic SSDs. They don't have the IOPS or sheer performance like the big-bollocks EVOs or BXs, but they're decent drives.

It's non-3D TLC, so I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole. The only worthwhile (imho) TLC memory comes from Samsung, for the time being.

The access times and endurance of plain TLC suck. They're fine for light, read-oriented usage, but I wouldn't use them in a general purpose drive. At least not when Samsung's 850 EVO can be had for €78 on amazon.de.

I have the 480gb version that I got for cheap to upgrade a laptop for a friend. So far its decent for the money and performs just fine in most tasks. Tried a few games with it as she plays Moba's and BF4 on this laptop and it loads up pretty quick. Not the best drive I have used as my Samsung's are definitely superior (And I have had some that feel a bit faster doing the same thing I am doing to this device) but for the most part they are good budget drives.

Personally i steer clear of ocz,even tho theyve gone out of businesd,and theyre names been bought by some other company ive had bad experiences with them, but those experiences where from 2011 iirc. I stick with the samsungs personally,but im sure crucials arent toobad,as well as some others. Aside from the 840 evo issues,(which i missed,since i only just broke down and began buyjng ssd for myself during the 850 evos reign,)samsungs are solid.IMO/IME

Fwiw, my two Vertex4 drives are still doing their job.
OCZ was always a great company. They literally had one bad product and now everyone remembers them for that.

I will take a slow, budget/generic SSD over the fastest, high-end WD or Seagate hard drive any day of the week! Even generic memory makers make "reliable" products. If a Samsung 850 Pro 3-D is not in the budget, then you can still expect that OCZ SSD will provide you many years or reliable service - with great performance too!

OCZ had major issues with the Vertex drives before going under......

Haven't heard what the new ones are like.....

Actually, u might check out Guru3D, they are currently doing a 5 year reliability study on the new SSD's to help OCZ rebuild some reputation.
