Favorite Motherboard Brand?

I've only have experience with Asus and Gigabyte. And I can say gigabytes bios terribad. In the bios the pointer is very slow. Everything is low res. the gigabyte fan setting...weird. Its as if gigabyte hired amateurs with no graphics/arts background with basic programming to make their bios. i only bought it because of the specs and because the hardware looks cool.

A$u$ i$ top notch. no complain$.

Anyway I want to hear your opinion and experience

I don't really have a favorite. I have enjoyed motherboards from Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, and Asrock because none have given me an issue. I can say I dislike biostar boards. The 2 I have used had bios that did not even work properly.

After DFI went away, I used Gigabyte for years, now ive found that MSI can do what DFI allways done and to a much better price than anyother.

Gigabyte has maintained me as a customer. All around build quality is unmatched. They may not be the best over clockers but consistently nice boards.

My latest Gigabyte board has impressed me as well. Though I will agree with the above poster that the bios is a tad bit behind others in fan control...

And I've had bad luck with MSI personally. I wonder what their RMA rate is?

Mine was Abit until they went under, now it's ASUS. I tried Gigabyte, a KT400 and nForce3 both had issues, lost IDE channels on the nForce3. Then switched to ASUS and never looked back

To be fair I've had 3 die, 2 were mid range but the other was a A8N32-SLI Deluxe, the most expensive motherboard around at the time...which rather pissed me off

I still prefer them tho as they're awesome for overclocking.

Personally I would not touch an MSI board.
Fun fact...did you know they were selling AMD 970 G43/G45 boards with 4 phase uncooled vrm's and listed Vishera as a supported cpu???
In fact Newegg had a promotion which bundled the G43 970 and 8350 together... You should see all the complaints related to fried vrm's...lol.....

MSi and Asus. MSI has been shaking up the motherboard market with the last few generations of Intel chipsets.

MSI for every-day gaming boards(I use MSI Z170 GAMING PRO in my own gaming rig), ASUS and ASRock for memory OC (ASRock OC Formula and ASUS MAXIMUS EXTREME), ASRock for far-out engineering things like the Extreme11 that can use 22 HDD/SSD, Gigabyte and Biostar for audio designs.

Each brand has their strength and weaknesses.

Currently using ASUS for an old server motherboard that is giving me every indication it will run forever. Also using ASRock and MSI as well. I've had some good Gigabyte boards in the past as well. The MSI H97 Gaming board I have is excellent!

In general, I look for what gives me the features I want at the price I want. I've had the best success with ASRock boards though, with the one in my system specs giving me all I want or need right now without trouble.

AsRock has been my go to brand for the past few years. Solid build quality and great features for the price. But I use all the brand except Gigabyte, their service is absolutely terrible. I submitted an RMA for my GTX970 because the fan bearing are going bad after just 5 months of use on Nov 22, I still haven't heard from them. Now I know Thursday was a holiday, but the 22nd was Monday. I've never had to wait more than 24 hours to get an RMA approved, forget over a week...

I have used a bit of everything. I had problems with ASUS boards back in the early 2000's. My A7N8X was perfectly stable, but if I performed a shutdown I would have to disconnect power from the motherboard for 5 min before it would boot again. Then I found Abit, loved all of my Abit boards.Then tried ASUS again with the M2R32-MVP which always gave me weird errors, but I think those were mostly related to compatibility problems with the sound blaster x-fi. THen I used gigabyte for a number of years, really good boards. I would have gone gigabyte for my current build, but their 990FX motherboards did not have a UEFI interface so I choose the sabertooth 990FX with 5 year warranty, been a great board with no issues so far. I alsso had a MSI Nforce 4 board that was nice, still in use today.

You're right about MSI, but in the end, it doesn't seem to matter for day-to-day use. It's harder to build a more complicated product, and there are more things that can go wrong. Can't really argue against reliable simplicity. If we go with @BiggieShady 's RMA rate graph above, it makes perfect sense. I think Gigabyte's high-altitude test lab helps them a fair bit, too.

It was some time ago but, I had a MSI 975X Platinum Power-Up Edition board and accidently put the MSI 975 PlatinumX BIOS on that board because it wasn't clear wasn't exactly clear which one was which, it was almost a fine print kind of thing. MSI right out the door had sent me a replacement BIOS chip with the latest BIOS on it. When it didn't work, I sent back the board and had it back in 2 weeks, granted this was quite some time ago. I haven't had to RMA a part other than hard drives for quite some time though.

Abit>Intel. Sad they dropped the mainboard line.
Excellent engineering resulting in extremely stable platforms.
Overclocking and stability on this Z68, especially with the RAM, is outstanding, and the features are very impressive.

i've stuck with Asrock for the last close to 10 years, and until my latest gpu not waorking ive never had a real issue, and it probablt doesnt help that the board in question is 5-6 years old either.
