I am seriously considering a larger monitor. I was thinking a 22 or 24 but I'm not sure witch would be best for my system. Gotta be under 500$..

Honestly, I would go with a nice 22". Acer, Samsung, Hanns G, or LG. Take your pick. I use an Acer AL2223W and love it.
    ShadowFold says thanks.

How close do you sit to your screen? You dont want it so big you have to move your head around to see everything on screen (even though its only 2inches).

i faced same decision as you a couple of months ago. I decided on the smaller better quality 22" than a cheapo 24". Dont regret my decision. loving this monitor, feels so much more than just 3 inches bigger than my 19" LG LCD. just the right size for me, but like i say prob depends on where you sit.

A can't suggest which one to get but I can suggest which not to get.
Don't not get certain Samsung Syncmasters with RTA enhancment as certain models had an issue with ghosting due to the RTA enhancement despite the low ms rating.

I know I found this out after I bought my Samsung Syncmaster 19" widescreen which has the RTA enhancment then googled finding out this is a common flaw.

    Edit:-
The specific Samsung model is the 226BW which has ghosting with RTA enhancment.

Full HD is considered 1920x1200(actually, full industry standard HD is x1080, w/e). Only 24 inches and higher provide that, as far as ive seen so far. If you do 22", you are banked on 1680x1050, just below full HD.
some people like to try and say that 1330x720 is HD, i beg to differ. Get the 24 inch, you wont regret it.
EDIT: ive got an 8800GTS 512, and i can play everything max settings 1920x1200, some without AA like crysis tho.

Both are discontinued...the 2253BW are basically the same, but have BAD backlight bleeding. I own a 226BW, it's a C panel...once you throw a color profile in it, the picture quality explodes. My eye's melted, best money I have spent on my computer EVER...very happy with it:D

Find out what panel, and drop an appropriate color profile in it;)

Sammy's are nice indeed, but I like my Acer. Only one I have ever seen that looks better was a Hanns G.

I just ordered a 24 inch Acer from tiger direct. I will have it in on Thurs and be able to tell you more. From what I read its a nice pick up. It was on newegg as well, but I got it cheaper at tiger.

I would go with the 24 inch for the full HD quality.

He doesn't have to get a 24 to go full HD, there are 22'ers that do 1920x1200.
