i do not know any details, based on price and limited info i would say no go. I found a decent mechnical for $70 last year, an "ione" brand - still going strong. I wouldn't go less than $50 for a mechanical though, and that's a steal imo.

Your best bet for a $25 mechanical keyboard is to get an old, grungy IBM Model M (no way you are getting a precleaned one for that price) and MAYBE you might get a really decent working keyboard out of it with some cleaning. Otherwise, you're going to have to pay up.

Can't really help on that particular item... however, afaik... HLZ is part of Acer Incorporated (HLZ).
They make tablets, notebooks, handhelds, HDTVs, PC parts, and the list goes on. They have made some wireless keyboards and keyboards for ACER laptops, PCs, etc..

Info here:

zalman k500 with knock off reds is the cheapest i have seen over here but for $25 i would take a punt on that.

sounds like some kind of knock off brown to me, which if real would be ace imo :D

I prefer PS/2 keyboard and mouse. Sad it is getting harder to find them.

My basic motherboard has only 4 USB ports. It is a waste to use 2 ports to connect mouse and keyboard. :shadedshu:

The one review says it's not mechanical
I do not know about USA, but that's a crime in my country. In theory, I could require my money back in such situation.

In theory, because requiring your rights can cost your life here. Specially when dealing with big stores and industries.

Complaining here is not for everyone, really.

maybe the technology is better now but just a few years ago there were problems with the number of keys you could press at a time on usb vs ps/2, weren't there? I noticed on my $80~ logitech numerous times where it dropped out after pressing 4-5 keys at the same time in certain games - i switched to ps2 offbrand and the issue stopped.

also regarding hubs - i've always seen them as an additional point of failure and so try not use them for anything that gets regular use - and nothing is used more regularly than kb/m. that's just my own mentality but i thought i'd share it.

A little fyi...in some places scissor switches are considered mechanical. Considering the keycaps look shorter than normal, that is my flu inspired guess.

I never intended on buying it, I was just looking at current prices and I thought I'd ask about this.

Yea, good eye. I'll keep that in mind.

I already said it was a few years ago, so no - not maybe 10. it was a question but only because i was hazy on the details. n key rollover which is the ability for a keyboard to detect multiple keypresses when said keypresses are released at the same time is an issue with usb keyboards still to this day, it just doesn't affect many people so it's virtually non-existent. it affected me though, and much more recent than 10 years ago.

I threw out two of those a few months ago actually.

Since I use my keyboard so much, like everything else on my computer, I have no problem paying $100 or so for a really good keyboard. I have a Razer Black Widow and like it a lot.

Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
Its still exists on some keyboards, gaming keyboards usually have the keys mapped so the common keys are on smaller loops, and it seems on my eclipse that is only allows for smart moves, like awd asd aw dw w3d wd45 wd6 wd wd7 wd8 wd67 wd890 awd78 awd789 aw21 aw213 aw813 we4t6

Considering you only have one hand on the KB when playing most games a six character limit seems to be OK, and I have never ran into an issue.

Some cheaper boards use rip off alps or topre switches not even real ones, tells you just how cheap they can be. I don't know about this particular board but be aware that not all mech boards are equal. I don't know how the cheap switches are but i avoid those boards because they plastic and stuff is really crappy quality. IMO you either go for a real Cherry MX switched board low end or high end construction or you go for a cheap ass £5/$5 rubber dome.

No more of an extra failure point than extra ports directly on the motherboard.

point taken but i'm sure it's past experience mingled with that mindset. i just like my peripherals, usb stick etc in a port directly. microphone, chargers, etc can go on the hub.

It says Black Cherry MX switches, but OneMoar says that it's a lie, so I don't know. When I saw your original post, I looked on Newegg to see what I could find. Then, I posted the results.

I have bought a Rosewill Mechanical KB for $80.00 shipped before, (it was the real deal) but my wife, the English teacher promptly confiscated it. Shortly afterwards, I won a Corsair K90 in a contest and I have been happy with that.
