Ok, I put the Noctua back on and tried to OC, but the slightest OC (4ghz) will give me a blue screen immediately. This chip is a freakin' brat! lol. Anyone have any ideas?

you shouldn't blue screen with such a small OC. I have an i5 2500K and that'll hit 4.7Ghz on air before it blue screens on stock voltages.

Tell me one thing. When you overclocked what setting did you use? Did you use the turbo overclock. Because that is probably the reason you blue screened. And never increase the CPU frequency. This will cause system failure in minutes, you can only get 5-7% more cpu frequency before you get problems so it's best to leave it as stock.

To oc one of these chips you go into an option in the motherboard that lets you set the maximum multi per core. and set them all to the multi you want. I5/7's are easy as the FSB is 100, so 44 will be 4.4Ghz ect.

Whats up buds! Ok so i got around to ocing my 2600k and its currently set @ 4.8ghz with a 1.415 voltage bump and its running prime ok with the hottest core at 78 degress and so far no blue screens/reboots. Anyone have any thoughts?

All this with my Noctua NH-D14

Not to me it doesn't. Seems like temps are right where they should be, given my own 2600k's and D14.

This is my first attempt and keep in mind this is worst case with prime95. Those temps are right on give or take a couple degrees for a 4.8ghz OC.

I do hit over 80c daily, with lower clocks then he's got(so that's near 6 months of running those temps 24/7). If the CPU is too hot, it will throttle, and if it doesn't, the temps are perfectly fine, in my opinion.

Of course, I am only running 1.27 through my CPU, but that's besides the point.

Yeah, that's my take exactly. There will be a few apps that produce the same temps, but 80c, to me, is nothing, given the volts and clocks you got, especially since these cpus hit that on stock coolers and stock speeds.
