I decided that I would give the DS-3 another try, dispite of all the comments people have made about it. I have also bought new RAM (see specs) and returned the PQI RAM due to incompatablilty.

...And it started flawlessly. :D

Yet I find this rather a good learning experence. It took me quite a while to find out what was going on. And I just get pissed when I know I have installed everything and connections are connected properly and things in general do not work. I threw a fit earlier during my first attempt.

Now I am planning to overclock my CPU for the first time as well until Core 2 is available in quantity. Then I will start the 3dmark benchmarks after the overclock.

I would guess that 530 will overclock nicely. My 520 is running at 3.5ghz on air with no voltage increases. I can take it to 3.7hgz but for the summer I have it slowed down to 3.5. I have a 550 in the mail to me that I'm going to play with until conroe is ready.

If you have the ability to adjust your northbridge voltage on that MB, you should be able to hit 4hgz easily.

Congrats on getting it to work. Now I remember watching the vid you posted but I had no idea it was with the DS3. I wouldnt have been able to help you anyway because I dont have much experience with no post issues.

What comments have people made about it?

The comments are mostly about not starting up correctly (user errors), RAM SPD misdetections (Cas Latency of 3 instead of 4 for example would cause a no post) and just RAM compatbility in general.

And mikelopez, the film of the no post you said was after the bad DS3 was removed and my old i915 mATX board was installed.

I performed the 3dmark 03, 05 and 06 and the results are in a zip file. My 3dmark05 score is kind of low for what others have.

http://dl3.uploadgalaxy.com/files/09d68a868b31/3dmark.zip.html

My CPU was overclocked to 3.4 Ghz and my 7900gt was at the stock speeds of 500/1500.

If there is any suggestions in getting my 3dmark05 score higher (overclocking excluded) it would be highly helpful.

Just making the rounds. I've got this:

No post. It's Patriot 2x1GB 667Mhz CL5 Signature Line, PSD22G667K. Here's a link:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220064

Picked up the DS3 from Fry's along with an e6300. Unfortunately, I do not have a speaker to hear error codes. I tried:

-2 different video cards (1 known good)
-Went through all the ram combos
-Clear CMOS
-Double checked all connections

I can't be 100% certain it's the board, cpu, or ram since I've yet to see any up yet. But I'm fairly certain the board doesn't like the Patriot chips. I'll pick up some new one's tomorrow...Corsair ~ least hassle then? If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.
