"The gun company kills people, not the unsupervised maniac who bought the gun."
"It's the condom's fault I banged my girlfriend and got her pregnant."
"Violent Television and video games are why we have so much violence today, again, not the unsupervised person who has pre-existing issues with violence."

    All equally retarded/funny arguments.

You guys will be bribed with coke, and hookers before you ever get to make your case.

It's best to go after Dan; his beer time will keep him busy untill it's too late!

People just averting the blame from themselves because they realize they are complete failures in life and can't even muster the willpower to get dressed nevermind go work and live like a regular person, they should probably just wither and die than leech off the company's success.
    Phxprovost and zithe say thanks.

There seems to be an epidemic of people choosing not to take responsibility for their own actions this past decade in particular. Why? What can we do to change it?

He's lying. At 16 hours a day (figure 8 for sleeping), that adds up to just under 30,000 hours. He has been playing approximately 11 hours a day. In other words, he was productive for 5 hours every day. Warren Buffet makes millions every hour, even if he isn't working...

Since 11 hours a day for 5 years is very excessive, I'd conclude he has an addictive personality and, well, that's his own damn fault. There's no way he'll get a cent out of ncsoft. The court should (will) order him to attend addiction conseling with no monetary compensation.

Actually guys some game devs hire psychologists and human behaviour experts to implement deliberate addictive game mechanics.

If this game was one of them then fair game, I don't think deliberately addictive is a good thing.

BS.... Nonsense...... Frivilicious..... Stupid..... Yadda Yadda

You can't even win lawsuits against beer companies and that is addictive. You can't sue a cigarette company even if you die from lung cancer and they are addictive. You can't sue a porn company if you become addicted to porn. You are responsible for your own behavior and any injury that might occur by participating in said event is your own problem.:nutkick:

Doesn't the military use similar things when training soldiers? Shoot the target and it makes a little "ding". I'm not trying to undermine the psychological validity of game addiction but I'm pretty sure the basis is really the reward mechanism and it is often disturbingly simplistic. Hit the buzzer, win a cookie. Keeps me coming back...

Wow dude, you really have a problem. Makes me feel better about soliciting prostitutes to play WoW with me. Oh god I'm so lonely....:D

I have never played WoW I swear!

11 hours a day. Hmm, I should be able to sue my employer as I am addicted to the money they give me for working 10 or so hours a day, and without it I am unable to function normally.

He can blame himself for playing it too many times, its his own fault and his own action and who still plays lineage II these days i mean its really old MMORPG now. =/ i'm pretty sure community is near dead or something but if its not then cool.
But still it is the guy's own fault for playing for so long.
