After reading Hayder Master's post, and especially after reading Kreij's post, I had tears to my eyes . I thought that it would be a good time to lighten up the mood !

So today marks my 3rd anniversary at TPU! Accompanying that is that this is my 7500th post, and I have exactly 1000 thanked posts and 1200 thanks :) I'd like to thank all the TPU members, but obviously a huge shout-out to the TPU Staff and Moderators, to W1zzard, and more recently to the TPU News team who make my recently shorter visits to TPU informative and a pleasant read. :toast:

When I first came here, I was 16 years old and had about 1000$ saved up, and all I did with my days was gaming, gaming, gaming! :D I came here to save some money by learning about computers enough to assemble one myself (just like how my dad would do back in the day). Little did I know how fun it could be to learn these things! I discovered, thanks to TPU, one of my greatest passions :rockout:. Assembling a computer or picking parts for it, and then OCing it has become just as fun for me as playing games on said computer! But little did I know there was a downside to it... You also have to help every person in your family and your friends etc with their computer problems. Sadly, I have a humongous family :banghead: :/

Sadly today I do not have the time I had back when I was 16 to continue posting like I used to, University is keeping me busy, and ofc with University comes money problems and with money problems comes many jobs and now that I am 19 it is damn time to have a girlfriend and that is time consuming... :ohwell: so you will not see much of me except poking into news threads and random threads I see in the new posts section.

I just wanted to thank you all for all the knowledge I've acquired thanks to TPU. TPU is really the only forum I've ever really felt part of the community and I can say without a doubt that I will not find a better forum out there for me ;). It has been a great journey so far, and hopefully it will continue to be!

Have a Great Year 2012! :toast:
D007, Black Panther, Wyverex and 17 others say thanks.

What's funny is hearing you are 16. When I was 16 having a computer was only for super rich kids. The internet was run on a 14k modem and it was 1337! It was so awesome to play "Mad Maze" on a Prodigy browser........

But the best thing in the world was the fact the internet wasn't part of my life. The outside and girls is all I cared about. I think your generation got a raw deal. There was a thrill buying penthouse mags from a crooked 7-11 store owner. You had to have balls to pull things off. Now you just click and be done with EVERYTHING. So man as much as you love TPU I would forget about it. Get outside and get dirty. You are way to young to be hanging around a tech site.

haha I WAS 16, I'm 19 now... But you are right, I need a little bit of outside air :p Still, I'm glad I discovered computers the way I did through TPU, as it is one of my main passions now

Yea, LOL I remember the store down the road was ran by Pakistanis and they would sell me beer and p0rn tapes when I was underage! One time I was walking out with my treasures and a cop was outside and stared me down all the way to my friend car (who was a little older at the time but still not 18yr old). Man those were the days! I remember go-karts, four wheelers, and dirt bikes all year long after school! I love the internet dearly but I must be honest, It ruined this generation!

    Mailman...

You sound about my age. I was the local master of the apple pattern in Pacman...remember that one? Then I played Gravitar for a few years. Still love the game. You can play it for free now on Atari's website...and it's still hard as hell.

    We liked Swank around here...:).

My first pc broke my paper route money/piggy bank/savings account and it had no hard drive. 256k and 5 1/4" discs(Comodore Business Model). Used for $400. That was literally 500 pc's ago...smile.

It was 2400 baud around here for BBS's, then later the net...Circa '91 for me. All command line, no GUI.

    Best,

    LC

In my youth porn was always 'found' in construction workers cabins and around building sites. My first PC was an Acorn Electron which was awesome. It was the Commodre 64's retarded older brother.

    I'm 24.

Searching for pr0n was never difficult. You either waited for an hour on a 56k modem, or went down to the store and "hid" a magazine in the stack of other ones. You always knew which clerk would let you get away with it, and it was easier than waiting for the internet to download a crappy quality picture.

We had plenty of horse power. I've been in just about every muscle car without more than a $50,000 price tag, and a couple of them that do. Go-carts were fun, but they don't run well whenever the frame gets bent. That was one heck of a straight line acceleration, and an epic ejection. 4-wheelers are interesting, but not as awesome as the rifles we used for hunting.

The internet doesn't ruin a generation. The people are ruined, then discover that the internet can help spread their plague. America's funniest videos proved that people are stupid, and this was well before the internet. I will not say that the internet isn't making stupid easier, but it isn't causing any more stupid than already exists.

Do you remember trying to rewind it to the EXACT point it started so your dad or uncle wouldn't figure out its been watched? I remember writing down times and such. My room ended up looking Jim Carreys in the movie The Number 23.

The internet took the thrill out of the hunt so to speak. No risk. No fun.

    Congrats n-ster!! :toast:
I do get what you mean though. There's a certain vibe here on TPU that i haven't found on many forums. That's why it's so much fun to hang out here. I'm here since 2006. (Damn does time fly) And in that time i learned a lot, and computers really became a part of my life.
I have skipped a year or two not being so active but it's strange that after all those years the vibe hasn't really changed much.:) It's really a big thumbs up to Wizzard, all the mods and of course the people who contribute to this site. Also your post is a good example of how people here care for each other. Some more then others of course but i like it!

Haha one great thing about the internet, especially at TPU, is that people from completely different generations and geographical locations can share their knowledge and have discussions about a subject they love.
