In the wake of Microsoft Windows 10 launch, NVIDIA released its latest GeForce driver targeted at the new OS, GeForce 353.62 WHQL. This driver offers full support for WDDM 2.0, and DirectX 12 (feature level 12_0) support for NVIDIA GPUs based on the "Maxwell" and "Kepler" architectures. NVIDIA plans to enable DirectX 12 support for older "Fermi" (GTX 400, GTX 500 series) GPUs later this year. The driver also adds SLI profiles for a handful new games such as Batman: Arkham Knight (which was previously removed), Killing Floor 2, and Total War: Arena.

LOL, so my processor now can't be overclocked in WIndows 10 and my graphics card has had a few frames taken from it's already meagre amount. Brilliant.

Have you updated to the latest versrion of AIDA64? If not hit check for updates and see what it reads. They made a special release just for W10.

Even if you have the latest version, why do you think it's necessarily correct over what the driver reports?

And finally, I think accusing NVIDIA of being liars over this is a bit strong. We'll know for sure when DX12 games come along.

Ofcourse you can overclock, don't be silly.

Works just fine for me.

Also, Keplers feature level is only 11_0, not 12.

So its working as intended, you are just spamming stuff you don't know anything about. Don't spread misinformation.

Has to do with the Pentium Gxxxx processors. You can either run a single overclocked core or you can run all cores at stock, otherwise W10 gives you issues. See HERE.

This is one of those lame attempts to create controversy where none exists, most likely to get an edge over Nvidia. I should have known as soon as I saw the Guru3D link.

Fwiw the OP has linked both TPU and G3D threads back to each other trying get the ball rolling, this type of shit happens at Guru all the time.

And the AIDA64 info only shows hardware feature level support and DX API support.

Can we have this thread closed please?

It's not really W10 it's more the CPU. One of the recent Windows Updates was a CPU microcode update from Intel.
I understand that, but it's only an issue on 10. The same CPU microcode has no issues on 7 or 8.

Do you think Intel deliberately borked the CPU because it was a little bit too good and cheap and perhaps cannibalized sales of more expensive processors?

Note I have no idea if this is the case, just sounding it out.

I honestly don't think so, I think it's just an error and will be sorted soon enough. I was actually joke being in a huff. These things happen and I'm old enough and ugly enough to be patient for a bit until they fix it :)

I doubt it will matter since no games support DX12 anyway.

If DX12 is anything like DX11, there are already DX12 patches for games in the works with a torrent of DX12 only titles in the works. Considering the XBOne will be capable of DX12 I suspect this will be no later than Christmas season.

It wouldn't be surprising as DX12 is a feature level of DX11. True DX12 kicks in at 12.1 Tier 3 iirc which won't be any time soon.

Tbh I intensely dislike W10 so maybe I'll never see DX12 who knows,.,.,.:)

Oh no! Now you can't play...wait there aren't any DX12 games...there aren't even any coming out any time soon? Oh, well, never mind then.

Seriously, by the time DX12 becomes relevant we'll be at least another generation down the road, and your Kepler based 780 won't be able to maintain 30FPS.

Wait, whut?!!

Indeed. ;)

It's sobering to see how obsolete the legendary 8800 GTX is now and that only came out in 2006. Not a very long time ago in absolute terms.

Only 11_0? It looks a bit like my 390 as I was expecting at least something deeper but, I guess I'll take what I can get. I suspect drivers might not be completely ready to support anything higher from either camp.

Let me know how that DX12 benchmark works out for you. I'll let you know as soon as I find out one exists...

Seriously: This is telling me that drivers don't yet support DX12 but do support WDDM 2.0.

Kepler was only supposed to support DirectX 12 FL 11_0. This is not a surprise.

Um, I'm not being silly. It's a G3258 issue but of course if you are not affected then no-one else could possibly be, right?
Being more clear in the original post would have helped. Because you obviously can overclock in Windows 10.

Saying that it affects G3258 would have been better, there is no way for me to know.
